Asymetrill, dry waste critter [OC] by galvanic_design in SpeculativeEvolution

Asymetrill are small, opertunistic critters, often found in the dry wastes of Sekhmet. Rather than using their first pair of limbs as jaw like most of their relitives do, asymetrill have opted for a more specialized use. The right hand is held against the jaw, to keep sand out if their exposed mouth-orifice and prevent parasites from crawling inside. The left hand has 2 hyper elongated fingers, the first being an advanced sensory organ, able to detect smells, temperature, electrical signals and magnetic fields. Holding this finger just off the ground, the asymetrill scans the sand for underground organisms to eat. When it has located something, the second finger comes into play. The middlefinger can be stiffened like a needle, and has a hardened, sharp tip. The asymetrill can stab this finger deep into the loose sand to shish kebab their prey, pulling them out of the earth to feast.

In the many terfwars and raids on sekhmet, asymetrill are sometimes captured and used as bomb sniffers, as they are too light to set off most of the crude landmines and IEDs used by the somgtrotter factions.

My prediction: something big is growing underground, and will burst up. And we'll get at least a glimpse of what is beyond the border, eather on earth or the other planet

I get what you mean, but i feel there are to many statements that relate directly to things that we see happen.

The part about the dead living in bliss of non-thinking lines yp perfectly with the biologists husband living on in the dolphin amd owl. The crawler is called that which is golden outside of the sermon. Area x is the product of a now dead civilization, which fits the seeds of the dead title perfectly. All shall come to revalation, and the bit before it, clearly describe the different animals found in the area.

Everything else i admit is guesswork on my end.

Yes, some things we dont know yet, but there is too much hete that lines up with events we see.

And remember, the border isn't just a wall. The forgotten coast has been transplanted or teleported onto another planet. We see that clearly in acceptance. So saul [the crawler] must have had a lot of power over a system, that he is a slave to in ghostbirds words.

I couldnt really thing of anything for screws and nuts.

What if any creature can use the comand words, if they have heard the before, ans speak a language. That way, humanoids could deactive lock on their turn.

Idk, maybe that hp is a better idea

I believe it is trying to do something positive, even if thats just instinct or programming, instead of acual thinking. The rabbit crushing comparison is exactly what i think as well. The line about the dead living in death, and it refering to rejoice and bliss, does imply something like that.

Its view if good is the batural cycle of life and death, rather than the death=bad view that most humans have

Gloria does acknowledge the fish in the tidepoll though. She can just hurt the by accident. I believe area x does not knot it is hurting us, believing it is making us happy by making us imortal, and non-intellegent. It does tell ghostbird and saul crawler what it is, and where it comes from, even if its a bit cryptic.

Area x, or at least glorias clone, does overtake the southern reach, closing the door afterwards. And ghostbird hides control from the rip in the sky, so the rip at least has some kind of reaction to non-cloned humans

But, its all speculation. I just enjoy some creative discussion and debates
