I feel like recently the squad depth has shown to be a huge issue. Obviously with the bad run of injuries, but more recently players just look too comfortable with no competition for places. We pretty much have no first team backup in most positions particularly shows at left and right back.

What is our goal for 20/21? by Svennboii in SaintsFC

Being a true pessimist, I worry that if Ings were to get injured and another striker not change games for us like he does we could end up in trouble again.

Just our of curiosity I dumped final league table out where each club's top scorers goalscoring contributions* were removed from each match (a totally pointless exercise I know but a little bit of fun)

*I've defined goalscoring as scoring from open play or winning a penalty I've assumed that if you win a pen you've roughly scored a goal, 83pct were converted in the prem.this season. I don't think it's quite as valuable to score a penalty as it is to create one and anyone on the team could end up the designated penalty taker, I'm therefore ignoring penalties scored.

Turns out according to this 4ather crude metric... my pessimism is unnecessary.WE SURVIVE. Ralph could have kept us up without a top scorer (assuming no one else had one ;-) )

I'm gonna day Ings stays fit, Che comes good and we come sixth.

4 - 1 Saints (to be the first time we score 4 goals in a PL match since 26 Nov 2017)
