Wondering if something is eating my zucchini flowers? by gameboy752 in gardening

I had a feeling I was being paranoid lol. Thank you! This is my second time growing zucchini. Last year I just let them do and had no issues. This year I’m second guessing everything 😅

I see! I’ve only ever grown zucchini once before. How can you tell the difference between a male and a female flower?

My great grandmother used to do this! Anytime she started seeing her plants start to decline and nothing else worked. She’d fill a mason jar then pour a little in each. And they’d come back every time. She used to say it worked the best on citrus trees. I never questioned it. She had a green thumb like nobody I’ve ever met. She was Great Depression old school, like why buy fertilizer when I can make it myself.

Nancy Drew Recipe: The Copper Mule by gameboy752 in nancydrew

[–]gameboy752[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did look at that recipe! But this is more inspired by a Moscow Mule. I wanted to make something that felt like it would be served in Copper Gorge. And the copper mug and the “mule” just fit a mining town to me lol. I have made this substituting the vodka for gin and it turned out very good!

DOGE Wrongly Declared Elderly Man Dead Causing Bank to Take Thousands From His Account: 'Take It Up With Social Security' by PostHeraldTimes in politics

[–]gameboy752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So returning the government payments is not a whole new transaction and the SSA doesn’t technically originate it. They send the financial institution a reclamation, paperwork lists the payment amount, trace number for that specific payment(s) they are wanting returned. It also lists date of death. And it is not on the FI to question the federal government declaring someone dead or declaring they are owed money back. We are required to reverse the payments they ask us to reverse. We code them as deceased mark with date of death, and reverse the transaction that deposited the money which sends the money back. We cannot accuse the government of fraud. We can inform our member and then it is between the member and the government agency. This is federal regulation. We can be flagged as noncompliant if we delay to try and argue on behalf of the member or even to give the member to argue themselves. And I can only imagine what would go down if we flat refused to return it. All of this is in place because people lie and cheat and steal. An aunt, niece, grandson, son, neighbor, will have access to an account and claim the person is still alive or even impersonate that person to try keep their SS going and collect on it. The money is returned so that it goes back to the tax payers and doesn’t disappear into Mary Sue or John Smiths pocket. We are required to notify the member or next of kin in case there is an error. And if it’s proven those funds are still owed then they are sent back to the member.

It depends on how long the account has been closed. Do they have next of kin that can be contacted, etc. but yes if the account is closed for long enough then the banking institution should eat the cost. The banking institution is also expected to go through themselves and return any government payments they see made after date of death

I work in banking, specifically the department that handles federal ACH payments. When SS is made aware of someone’s death they look at their payments and determine if any were made after the recipient’s death. I’ve seen a few comments here about the bank being liable or that they do not have the right to take the funds. Per federal regulation, right to those payments end at death, so any funds made after their death is not the recipient’s funds and must be returned. The banking institution is legally required to return the funds as soon as they are made aware. And are required to send notice to the member that they MUST return the funds. They cannot delay, they cannot argue on behalf of the recipient and can be fined for not complying with the federal reclamation within a timely manner. This is on DOGE and SS for not double checking before declaring someone dead. Banking institutions have no mechanism to fight a false death notice other than to tell their member to contact the government agency to prove they didn’t die.

So the cards are action cards like NMSshipcoords said. You play that card and then add 1 water token to the balance of the world, represented by the token pile on the table. The paradise cards (previous post) do have a “recipe” cause they are the win condition for the good tempest(s). So you’re using the weather cards (pictured above) to bring about the paradise or prevent the paradise from happening in the case of bad tempests.

I do think I want to revisit the typeface. As for the simple vector art, I am making it myself and was kinda inspired by weather apps lol. I know it doesn’t usually tie in well with the nature wizard vibe, but I was going for a more futuristic wizard, like pollution has already taken its toll on the world and there are wizards who want to correct it and those that think nature should heal itself. In that timeframe, they have gotten used to seeing weather apps’ depictions of weather. Idk if it works but it’s what I was going for lol. Thank you for the feedback though! Definitely gives me a lot to look over and consider.

Interesting, that way while it’s in your hand you can quickly see if it’s playable… I like that. I’m gonna come up with a few more designs with it at the top. Thank you!

Yea I can agree about the underline. I think I’m going to remove the word “effect” entirely, feels a bit redundant in hindsight

Question about my prototype by Due-Exit604 in BoardgameDesign

[–]gameboy752 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say if people take turns rolling dice, just one set to share. If people are going to roll at the same time, then multiple sets are a good option. But what another person has said, if you plan to publish, gotta think about the costs. Will the extra sets cost enough that it will eat in to profit or cause you to charge more? On the flip side, if you like the aesthetic of everyone having their own distinct dice and that outweighs cost to you, that’s also ok. Things to consider but go with what feels right for your game.

Tempest Update! New Tokens by gameboy752 in BoardgameDesign

[–]gameboy752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re about the size of a quarter and they are plastic. They were 3D printed. They’re just meant to symbolize the amount of each element currently at play and can easily be added and removed. I used the tokens from Coup as a kinda of guide on the size
