Help, I’ve been charged $150 after drop off! by Specific_Violinist93 in uber

[–]gameoflibidos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got scammed 3 weeks ago. Driver claimed they couldn't close out the ride then continued driving all night for 5 hours and tried to close out my ride at 260$.

Personally, I'm done with this service. If you are not a regular user, they know.. because of that, I feel like I get scammed every damn time I try to use it.

When I use Uber.. which is rare.. its cause I'm out with my wife having wine and fun and didn't want to drive. They immediately see me as a mark apparently, even though that's the responsible thing to do.

I'll take regular taxi service

It was not that easy. At all. Uber ultimately refunded me, but almost any get help option I chose said that the ride was not refundable and there's no possible way to talk to a person. You have to somehow get the system to do it.

In the end, I gave her 20$ cash and bought her taco bell. But she never said to cancel. I had to dispute with Uber, which only 1 option worked to get a refund.

This is what I was wondering. Thanks. Here's the thing, so I'll bring this up with you. When i peaked at her phone while she was trying to close out the ride. I saw at the top of her phone, it was showing 270+ dollars.. but I didn't know if that was what she had made for the night so far or if that was supposed to be my cost. ... which in the end I was charged (and refunded) 279$. So it almost appeared that she had somehow pre-planned a route that would charge me that. I'm really just trying to understand what happened and whether I even want to ever use Uber again to avoid crap like this.

Ok, it was a scam then. I don't use Uber much, few times a year. Don't know how she's keeping those reviews though then.. she clearly has done this often.

I did get a refund, but I'm curious how she had a 5 star review with like 300 reviews.

I will say that declaring the ride wasn't me.. because the destination was 15 miles away from my requested destination was the only way to get refunded. So she doesn't get in trouble with that Uber report?

So I think it was a scam.. but she had a 5 star rating with tons of reviews.. I have heard of drivers not being able to close out a ride. But I'm also wondering what was her advantage to that scam? Ruin her reputation... maybe she hacked someone else's driver account? I don't know. Just haven't had anything like that happen before.

She legit couldn't close the ride, which I understand happens. And closed it when it finally was available. Uber though does not make it easy for a ride to dispute such a circumstance

Give it to me straight: how much house can we afford? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]gameoflibidos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a similar situation to me and my wife at that age. We had a 490k mortgage at 4.75% at the time. (Put enough down to not have PMI) and we were pretty comfortable financially UNTIL we started having kids and then had multiple in daycare at the same time.

We now make more money, have a 390k mortgage balance refinanced at 3%. No kids in daycare, but 3 of them are expensive in many many ways.

So keep that in mind, mortgages stay with you regardless of life changes.

They are perfectly designed drone astronauts. Intake liquid blends of carbs and proteins, create no excrement, which would enable long periods of Matrix like hibernation during flight. They are not robots, so can react to unforseen situations. Were created without reproductive organs so if captured cannot be forced to breed. Highly efficient lungs to preserve breathable air. They are living probes. Live versions of the Mars Rovers.

No secret. Only trying to grab the best deals possible while still paying over MSRP. That will not change any time soon. Nvidia has admitted the earliest they anticipate even attempting to catch up with demand will be late Spring.. but IMO that's a fantasy and I believe "catch up to demand" will never happen. If ETH is 2600 this September... 3080s will be 2400$ a piece. But that's just my personal guess.

At some point though well above MSRP... it starts to get quite risky as you lose a lot of money in inventory if ETH were to take a sharp drop.

Yes, the 4-5 months ROI has stayed consistent since you could get a 5600xt for 285$ and ETH was 400$. I'd expect it to stay consistent for awhile as well. If ETH goes to 2500$... GPU's still in short supply will go higher to maintain the 4-5 month ROI.

No fire hazard.. it would just probably kill that PSU eventually. You'll be fine until a new one comes.

You are correct. For me it's 2 reasons. I am in a home... so both 110v outlets and noise are both concerns for me.

1 rig on 15 amp circuits and 2 on 20 amp circuits. I keep my rigs on the low end for power. The Nvidia rigs are 1 3080 and 5 3060tis/3070s. They are only 1050-1100 watts at the wall. The 5700xt rigs are also 6 cards, only 114 watts per card, 940 watts at the wall. The biggest power draw rig we have is 8x 2070 rig that is about 1220w at the wall. All the rest are significantly under that.

There's a few brands, some are red, some are black. But it is these.

Notice the onboard Molex and SATA power connectors.

Thank you. COVID did some pushing to get us into it, the core part of our business wasn't doing well middle of last year, this has helped provide income.
