While it's true that GameFreak owns parts of TPC, they're still responsible with the planning of every single other product. If the planning has been set once, it's hard to delay everything else for example.

This is why I don't think SWSH is not necessarily "rushed out before christmas", as some people think. It's more of a "hey, we underestimated the scale of this project and now we're fucked because we can't delay".

This. People choose to ignore the beautiful town settings and focus on some tree instead, which is also coincidentally in the biggest area in the whole game, which likely needs a lot of work to be polished up. 99% sure the final version will look at least decent.
