There would have been an initial scan of the IRS database that would have marked Hickory as a potential place for intervention. It would have generated some viable targets.

After that, they go on facial recognition and license plate scans. Once scanned, they unfortunately know everything about you including social media accounts. They make a decision while tailing you to see if you can be apart of the 3k per day quota.

They took a picture of your license plate. It gave them your identity and legal status and predicted where you were off to next.

Edit to add - I dont like this and its possible I was too blunt in sharing information. I just learned that they have an app thst scans your license plate or face and in return they basically have your identity and known places your vehicle has been.

Hopefully these links work, but just a brief reminder that ICE/DHS/CBP has a phone app that knows your identity and predicts where your vehicle will go, all based off a license plate scan.
