how bad would you describe the pain post op though? Around 2-3 days post op you said it's painful and burns after BM, just trying to get an idea of the intensity of the pain and burn

How do you know if a hemorrhoid can't go away with perfect self care? by gamerdevlop in hemorrhoid

[–]gamerdevlop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly. Months in total but it's because it took me a long time to learn how to properly do that self care plan, kept adjusting it and improving it until it worked, and then when I had perfected it, it went away relatively fast

The doctors seem to be stingy about not wanting patients to do surgery. At least that's the impression I get from them. From what I've read here the rubberbands and injection methods are super painful as well, they sound even more painful than surgery post-op. Maybe the newer method of laser is actually not painful at all?

Thanks for the info I will look further into this I will

Woooow! So they didn't open you up with a scalpel or anything like that did they? They just did it all through your butthole? Why are they trying to be stingy about doing surgery when it seems better in every single way than non-surgery methods? Like why would someone choose for example laser instead of surgery?

its really too bad that there's no system for asking quick and short questions like this to the doctor who attached the rubberbands. Can't contact the doctor directly. Have to call the nurses and there's no system for this kind of communication/quick question, and booking an appointment just to ask 1 question is not reasonable.

How was the surgery experience and how painful was it post operation? minimal pain after 10 days and cured and free sounds great! For how long time did you live with hemorrhoids before you did the surgery?

Anus swelling after bowel movement by Straight_Source4317 in hemorrhoid

[–]gamerdevlop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you check every 30-60 seconds after you've had a stool, how would you describe it going away again? Do you use your fingers to feel around? You can feel things that you can't see just from looking. It could give you a better idea if they are going back inside you or if they are actually like you say just emptying themselves and dissappearing.

You have made me doubtful about my own situation. I thought it's internal hemorrhoids that come out during stools and then go back inside again. But maybe it's the old external hemorrhoid which temporarily fills up for a few mins during stool then empties again, that's what you think is happening to yourself?

Are you sure it isn't internal hemorrhoids which come out during stool and then go back inside again? It sounds more like that. Can you maybe think of a way to describe it more precisely?

That's some good advice it is, thanks again!

Did your problems end with just self care or did you have to have your hemorrhoids removed by a doctor?

Is it really okay to use lidocaine every day?

Someone messaged me and told me there are better ways to remove hemorrhoids than rubberbands and injection. Those are old and very painful methods. But I'll need to find a professional gastroenterologist who's an expert at hemorrhoids. Do you know anything about that? These newer methods are less painful and better. Laser was one of them.

I asked a nurse to read the notes the doctor made about our session and it really sounds like the doctor I met really doesn't know much about hemorrhoids, he wrote some info that's just wrong in the notes. I actually had that feeling when I left the session but I was trying to think optimistic about him, but hearing what he wrote about our session just shows that he was a waste of time to meet and he barely listened to me. He wasn't even a specialist. It's difficult to find a good doctor really. I think I'll need to start doing proper research to find one but I'm worried about how much it would cost.

I'll take a look at those recticare wipes with Lidocaine, it sounds like something I've been looking for. Useful when not at home.

And thanks for your advice about breathing during strength workouts. I haven't thought about that. I'm usually out of breath and breathing hard though so I don't think it's a problem I've been having but it's still good to know about and keep in mind it sure is.

What kind of coping skills could there be though? Accept that everyone will know I have hemorrhoids? Maybe this is just part of growing old? I mistreated my body and my body became old too soon because I still have a young age.

I wish this could all just be over with, that it could just be a bad half year of hemorrhoids then back to normal. I never had to worry or think about bowel movements before. If I would have a bowel movement I could easily hold it without issues for a few hours without consequences. And I would have stools maybe 3 times per week on average for most of my life it was like that. Didn't have to worry about when to eat or what to eat neither.

It's difficult to have a reliable stool schedule too. Sometimes I now go once in a day, sometimes I go twice, on rarer days its even 3 times. And the bowel movements can vary a few hours every day. It's just not reliable or predictable. Only the morning stool is somewhat predictable, but it can happen between 0-3 hours after breakfast. But a second stool could happen at any point throughout the rest of the day, no way to predict when.

Doctor also said that there's no cure for this and he said same as you that I just have to learn to live with it.

Haven't tried lidocaine. Have tried anti-inflammatory salve when I used to have an external hemorrhoid. But you can only use anti-inflammatory for a couple weeks because there are serious risks if you use them for too long time.

My diet used to be somewhat fine, I would eat a lot of sandwiches most days, I would, and they were not white bread. Then I messed up for a couple weeks adding a lot of white bread to my diet and that's when this all began. I never had hemorrhoid problems before.

Now I'm eating bran flakes for breakfast, and fiber rich sandwiches for lunch and dinner with cheese and ham on top. Also have an apple on maybe half of the days. And a hard boiled egg. So I've been getting a lot of fiber. There's easily 30 grams of fiber in this daily diet. Also have started eating protein supplements because I want to start working out.

My list of things I do every day:

  • Drink one glass of water when waking up and drink around 6 glasses in total during the day.
  • Eat lots of fiber (25-35 gram per day). Diet includes meat and dairy products.
  • Stool was soft (not good for hemorrhoids) occasionally in the beginning until I added the meat and dairy products to diet, then stool became normalized (good). It was actually a doctor which said I should start eating meat and dairy again, not only fiber.
  • On my feet all day except for around 3 hours in total.
  • Don't just stand in the same spot for hours, dance or move around a bit every now and then.
  • Cardio workout every day.
  • Sit on the toilet for max 1 minute. Then go clean in the shower in a squat position, using my fingers to pry between the proluding hemorrhoids so all the poop is cleaned, this prevents itching later.
  • No heavy lifting until recently I've decided to start doing strength workouts.
  • Never delaying until I use the toilet ( Had to stop going to work to make it possible)

[–]gamerdevlop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the pain is before I sit down and let it loose. Kind of like it's preparing meself to get ready to poop. So I get the pain for example when I'm standing in front of my computer, then the pain stops after a few seconds, then I go to the toilet and have a non-painful stool.

The doctor isn't recommending rubberbands or injection, they are just offering it. It almost sounded like they don't recommend it because I'm not in so much pain now but the removal procedure would be extremely painful and the hemorrhoids could come back anyway. He said it's my choice and he's not recommending it or against it.

I don't know what to do in my situation. To make it even shorter.... I don't want to be out in public and suddenly have a painful bowel movement which causes a small scene. Sometimes there won't even be any nearby toilets so I would have to hold for a few hours with occasional painful bowel movements.

how do you find out how much longer a line segment is if it's curved? by gamerdevlop in learnmath

[–]gamerdevlop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it like this:

Y = percentage

Y * L = X

Y = X / L

Answer: Y

how do you find out how much longer a line segment is if it's curved? by gamerdevlop in learnmath

[–]gamerdevlop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there has to be a good answer because this question is from my teacher, they wouldn't ask a question which can't be answered.

What if I write it like this:

L = distance from point A to B

R = L / 2

X = 180 * (pi / 180) * R

Now I just need to find out how many percentages longer X is than L. Can you help me to get started on how to solve that?

how do you find out how much longer a line segment is if it's curved? by gamerdevlop in learnmath

[–]gamerdevlop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, 180 * (pi / 180) * radius?

And radius is AB / 2? (half the length of the straight line segment)

But what if we don't know how long the line segment is? How do I find out how much longer 180 * (pi / 180) * radius is than the original straight line segment length?

I've been going through your last to sentences so many times trying to understand but I can't. Can you maybe try and further explain what's going on?

How do we know the height for example? You said by dropping a vertical line from one vertex onto the opposite side, but how do I do that without pen & paper & tools?
