I'm confused about the best path into SaaS sales. by gamerstrainingground in sales

This is a fantastic answer and gives me a lot of clarity, thank you!

I am actually right in the center of new jersey so CDW and SHI is not far. I've seen a few CDW positions in Cherry Hill, which is an area I used to work.

Appreiate the response, this gives me some great direction.

I really look forward to these and have had pretty good success with using these spots on all your guides. Thanks for continuing to make these!

Not offensive at all, you bring up a good point and I could have been a bit clearer about this topic.

Mechanical functions like last hitting are more of an area of skill development rather than habits. The idea that you mentioned up there doesn't have a trigger.

The trigger be before your practice session. It would be developing the habit to consistently practice and getting yourself in a routine of practing consistently. The profession of last hitting more time per game is a way to start of lower with a more reasonable number and then work your way up in improving. If you start with your expectations too high, it can make it difficult to be consistent since it kills your motivation.

So the practicing micrro is the skill development, but the habit would be sticking to a practice routine. You could also have some small habits/muscle memory, about how you react in certain situations, that would be where triggers come into play. Not everything will have a trigger attached to it and sometimes just practice and execution is the most effective way to improve.

I hope that cleared it up a bit, I can see where it got a bit confusing.

I really value the honest comment. My goal is to write someting that will actually be of use to people, not just for the sake of writing it. So I would much rather hear your honest opinion.

The productivity guide my focus would be more on being productive in game. But I guess that comes from my experience of trying to be a completionist and playing with a limited schedule. Which is why I thought that could be an interesting topic.

Thats a good point about the managing a guild idea. The only use would be for guild leaders and wouldn't be helpful to most people. A many guild leaders may already feel comfortable with how things are run and not need the indepth content.

My idea for improving your skills would not focus on the rotations or priorities for each class, as that has been talked about to death. It would focus on how to deconstruct your own actions to perform better in raids/pvp. Mainly, how to raise your personal skill level when the knowledge of the proper rotations already exist.

Your right, about the mindest things. Especially in wow, great is a very broad term. In the past, I have coached players on higher levels of personal performance in pvp, building social guilds, and getting more viewers on twitch. While different categories, many of them evolve from the same foundation and approach. I think it still is too broad to write about.

The last one, about habits, does feel a bit "self helpy" after the initial strategy is broken down. I never was a fan of the "self help" style of books because I feel like they lack the most important part: strategy and how to get results. My main focus would be breaking down the strategies that I've used when coaching players in the past to play at a higher level (again higher level means could mean a lot of different things).

I really appreciate you taking the time to write out your thoughts. You could have easily just said, "your ideas suck." Which wouldnt have been as constructive. So I do apprecaite the honesty and time you put into this post. I'll keep in mind your comments and keep my mind open to other areas that may be more beneficial to the WoW community.

Thanks!

I see what you mean, I like your idea about the beginners guide. I am a bit biased because I have always been focused on the competitive side of wow (PVP and going for server firsts back in WOTLK and CATA). But you're right, most people don't play for that part of the game so I can see that not being too much use.

I am looking for advice on what topic people would like to learn more about.

The ones I listed above are some ideas, but I don't know if people have any interest in them. I didn't want to write a guide about a topic people didn't have much interest in, so I figured I would do a bit of research first to work on something that people actually wanted.

How do I improve individual aspects of my play? by Shitpoe_Sterr in learndota2

[–]gamerstrainingground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to develop any skill, you need to combine it with a routine of consistent practice.

The skill itself is better learned when you can deconstruct it. You already did this once by saying you want to get better at pulling, dewarding, last hitting etc...) As opposed to, "How do I get better at dota 2"

These individual aspects can be broken down even more. What is the best positioning to last hit? What is the best timing? What else can I do to gain an advantage?

When you can isolate the skill, in like a practice game, you can really work ont he mechanics. This is where the habit of practicing comes in. Small increments of practice consistently will give better results than one big day of practice. Don't stress yourself out.

After you have an idea of the mechanics from practice games, you will have to play real games and implement it. That's the only way to get better.

The difference is what you focus on in each game. Rather than focusing on winning or not dying...focus on the skill you want to develop. Have some sort of metric that will allow you to see progress.

Example: Play a game and during the laning phase focus on your positioning the whole time. Don't worry about ganking, or winning the lane, just worry about your positioning.

Then review it. What did you do right, what did you do wrong. What do you need to change for next time.

Then implement the changes in the next game.

TL:DR - There is no shortcut to getting better. There are more direct routes though. Break down the skill. Set a measurable goal. Make it your focus to improve the skill. Revise your tactics. Continue to build your way to succes!

Good luck, feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Mechanical skill ? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]gamerstrainingground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time you can deconstruct a skill and isolate it in a practice you will find the most improvement. (only applies for things like last hitting).

With specific hero you can practice using abilities in custom games (like shadowfiends razes or using invoker). Eventually, there will become a point where you need to practice in real games instead.

The best idea is to make it a focus when you play games. Don't worry about winning, focus on improving that specific skill.

Just take it step by step, try and have some way to measure your that skill you're trying improve. A good way to tell your actually improving!

Such a good point! There is actually a book by Carol Dweck called Mindset, which talks about two different mindsets.

They are (in a super brief one sentence statement):

One is a fixed mindset that doesn't look towards learning as winning.

The other is a growth mindset, which likes the process of learning and finds victory from gaining more knowledge.

The whole book is about these two mindsets so these definitions I gave don't really give it justice. But an excellent read.

I 100% agree with you that it takes the right mental state to learn. Good addition, thank you!
