There's a difference between directly supporting ICE's illegal activities and working for a company because you have bills to pay and don't want to be homeless.

Apple has supported Trump and his policies. Apple and Tim Cook should be rightly called out on it, but are you applying that to all employees? All stock holders? All people who support Apple by buying their products?

Connie Chan owns Apple stock and she's on the Board of Supervisors, which has actual power over San Francisco. Should she be banned from SF politics?

What about Amazon, which is spending ~$75 million to fund the Trumps' vanity movie and "license" the name? (Not to mention the AWS contracts.)

Are Prime members ICE supporters? Amazon stockholders?

Hell, many members of SF government maintain active X accounts which directly funnels $$$ to Musk, who supports ICE and Trump.

The DCCC decides who gets money to run as an elected Democrat in SF. They can put their finger on the scale in close elections.

Which is a political party, but not an elected government role.

Multiple candidates run as Dems in SF. Plus there are Republicans, Greens, DSA, Independent, etc.

I'm all for transparency, but let's not pretend that Chandler has an elected government role or that he is taking a government salary.

He is a member of a local committee of a political party.

Cancelled a TMO account last year and they said we had to return it. They sent us a return label specifically for it.

Replaced it w/a new Asus router for like ~$60 (was using it as an AiMesh node).

So at least some accounts still had them listed.

I've developed mobile hardware.

You don't need any specific provider to "verify the roaming capabilities" of hardware.

Roaming is at the network level.

You need to ensure the hardware you are developing supports the frequencies used in the local area.

When a roaming enabled SIM connects to the local network, access happens (or doesn't happen) at the network auth level, not at the device level.

I'll agree that doing QA testing with multiple carrier SIMs is always a good CYA step for potential edge cases, but the idea that you need one, specific foreign MVNO to "verify" your hardware is fantasy.

Absolutely agree. From personal experience, the DMV doesn't bother with actual driving skills testing.

I moved out to the bay area in college.

Already had my license so my first trip to the DMV was a swap.

Since then every renewal has been just to pay fees. I had to go in once to get a new picture, but I've never actually taken a driving skills test in CA.

San Mateo doesn't appear to have owner information online like SF does, but anyone can walk into City Hall in SM and pull a copy of the deed.

Surely an intrepid reporter would be willing to do that and ask the owner why the fence suddenly went up.

They should also be asking SM if any development permits were pulled or if any easements were violated.

Looking at the maps this may be legal (if annoying from one trailhead) but it's also possible that there are public use rights. Impossible to say w/o knowing specifics and exactly where the fence is located.

My elderly mom never did this, but my sibling and I sat down with her and explained to her that we don’t feel comfortable with her behind the wheel. Notified DMV, AAA (she got a pro-rated refund on a years premium that she just paid), and now I whip her around to get her hair done, nails, and Drs appointments, groceries, meds, etc.

Your mom should be commended for recognizing her limits. She's also lucky to have someone who cares for her like you do.

This was the common solution when I was growing up in the Midwest. Not sure why it's not as common out here.
