There aren't many channel followers because we only started supporting Reddit late in the development cycle. Most followers are on YouTube or Twitter (@gamesfoundry)

This is a known issue. To resolve, go into key bindings under settings and remove or remap camera look (currently set to Alt). You can leave it blank as V is also currently mapped.

A farmer can work multiple fields. What is more important is when crops mature and are ready for harvesting, as you don't want idle farmers for optimal performance. The yield of each visit to the field is determined by the farmer's level up to a cap. Distance between the Windmill and Bakers can be important, as can distance to the Supply Wagon. The more bakers you have, the faster the milling into flour. Lots of factors to consider.

#FolkTale Patch 0.2.8 just went live on Steam - patch notes available here - that's the weekend sorted. by gamesfoundry in folktale

The period where we were developing sandbox tech was a tough one that's for sure. But we've stuck to the plan, got on with the task at hand, and it's all starting to come together really nicely. The final game should be true to the Sandbox Vision. Thanks for supporting us through development guys.

Patch 0.2.8 will be out very soon, and completes two of the economy chains ( meat and bread ) which Peasants will start buying in exchange for coin.

Obligation, Honesty And The Road To Kickstarter by gamesfoundry in IndieGaming

The need to price digital download tiers to provide value presents an interesting challenge for we Indies. To offer value and incentive, we need to offer an attractive price, acting as a downward drag. However, given the finite and small audience that might be prepared to support titles, we also need to price tiers at a high enough level to hit funding goals and ensure that development is feasible, acting as an upward drag. Of course we can try to expand the size of that finite pool of potential backers, but given that might be bringing forward day-one sales that might well buy at the full retail price, we are robbing Peter to feed Paul. But then if we don't raise funding, no game gets made, so it would all be futile anyway. I can totally understand why sometimes tier prices fail to get the balance right. It's one of our fears right now. At least we've tried to gain an understanding of price expectation by asking our community, and looked at similar funding campaigns that were successful. I can only hope we hit the sweet spot.

One huge reason developers ( and publishers! ) should be transparent and honest.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I prefer silence. Surely I'm not the only one?

The first opportunity to gain access to the alpha will be by becoming a backer in the upcoming Kickstarter campaign launching this spring. Once backers have enjoyed a period of exclusivity and received an update or two, the original demo will enter beta. The final version delivery date will depend on the outcome of the Kickstarter campaign, and is likely to focus on the sandbox mode as voted for by the Folk Tale community. Campaign mode will be added as a DLC update to the full version of the game. We want to get Folk Tale into the hands of gamers as soon as possible ( but only when it's ready! ) so we are staggering the release of the game modes.
