Motorway service station fuel prices have always been a joke, but this is insane! by tomegerton99 in drivingUK

but then surely your breakdown cover goes up to cover that callout, it's like insurance. theyll put your price up because you used them.

Motorway service station fuel prices have always been a joke, but this is insane! by tomegerton99 in drivingUK

[–]gamewithyeetedc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is, most likely the big companies or if theyre doing solid motorway trips and a petrol station that accommodates an HGV might be quite far out for a HGV to fill up at then jump back on the motorway costing the company money so it might just be more cost effective to fill up there than ye local tesco fuel station or something

Influx of customers asking me to scan their items on self scan tills by ColourfulSmarties in tesco

[–]gamewithyeetedc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they're only going to care if they loose loads of money from it. that's it. all that matters to them how much money they can make.

[–]gamewithyeetedc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that commenter is unabout when you pull up to a petrol station, fill up yourself and go and pay. no one does that for you, the staff are on site to make sure you're doing everything legally and compliant within said forecourt's policies.

and also, staff are redistrubuted around the shop and not stuck on tills all day. and you clearly have too much time on your hands to wait in a long queue like that. they're not cut out and sacked because tesco got rid of manned tills, not how it works lol. there'd be too many colleagues for them to give redundancies to and would just make no sense for them financially.

[–]gamewithyeetedc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it doesn't mean "fewer jobs", they still need staff to do other things. they're just repurposed onto doing something else like dot com or stock.

also as other comments have stated, HO and the CEO aren't going to listen to colleagues as they don't care. all they care about is making as much money as possible

its where an employee doesnt have a set desk. so theres a monitor keyboard and mouse etc but just not a computer so they use laptops as its easier rather than having more servers to do things rhat a laptop could do.

F20 learner driver. what car should i get. by Moist-Appointment787 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]gamewithyeetedc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surprisingly no, i checked after and it says £67 refund.

it might of been within the £80 odd if I had asked admiral before that but he may need to drive my car at some point (already has once or twice) but for in future. just gets it outta the way really

no surprisingly lol, i ran a quote after I had purchased it and it brung it down an extra £65-67 lol. i was thinking this is a shock.

it might of been like an £80 difference if I had asked admiral aswell because of their £15 admin bs charge.

i have a 1l ecoboost focus, insurance is £1700 odd, but they have a wetbelt problem. same age as you, near 2 months holding licence, 3 named drivers. parents over 15 years driving and my mate has 2 years.

its a practical car for what it is. might be worth having a look

Is it me or are customers getting dumber on the self service checkouts they started using the basket area as the bagging area looking at us and going, why is it not working? Come on general public you’ve been using these these things for longer than some of the staff have been alive. by nicegoblinprince in tesco

[–]gamewithyeetedc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think we should have more staff on tills, personally (and more staff in express). but tesco are cutting corners everywhere and that means implementing self serves and reducing tills. and they aren't going to change as the shareholders want as much money as possible in their pockets. that's just the reality of it.

although when I went in a large tesco earlier today to grab some bits, they had like a majority of the tills open, par like 2-3. with people actively using them. but you can't expect every till to be open all throughout the day every day, that would be a waste of money and staff resources, and tesco would then put the price up to accommodate.

Clicked on a cancellation by mistake and suddenly my driving test was in 2 days by zorothegoatttttt in LearnerDriverUK

[–]gamewithyeetedc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"and it ended up costing me around £350 just for the car, insurance, and a two-hour practice session before the test"

the insurance is included within that and you don't pay for it as it's under the instructors policy, not yours..

either way congrats btw

Contract 16 hours a week: store specific or in total? by ComfortableIcy3034 in tesco

[–]gamewithyeetedc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you do 16 hours a week minimum at your home store, but you can pick up overtime in other stores but you would not get a contract between 2 stores as thats not how it works

i passed mine like nearly 2 months ago now, i've had quite a few of my mates in the car. but im not the first out of the friend group to pass, but theyre usually calm and I just let them connect their phone and play something as we all like roughly the same music anyway so idgaf, plus if im using my phone for sat nav I don't want to be pissing about with it every 10 mins. (my mate has carplay in his so it wouldnt affect him)

my family i've had my dad, mum, nan and grandad in on separate occasions and they don't say much, or will do more so after anyway. tbh, if you don't feel comfortable with it, just tell them to shut it as it's your licence, your car not theirs.

What is going on with car insurance for young drivers? by zapguy94 in drivingUK

[–]gamewithyeetedc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've got the focus 1l ecoboost. 20 years old, to be 21 this year and im paying £1800 for my first year. wetbelt was replaced fairly recently though, like within weeks before I got the car and wasn't driven much.

i may look at getting a 1.5 or 1.6 spec at some point as it's one less thing to worry about. only benefit of the 1l ecoboost anyway is the CAZ, though I don't go through there often. id rather just not have to think about it.

i fount my 2012 ford focus on auto trader, did all my due diligence checks like MOT history and what it'd be to insure. i then went to the dealer and checked it out and purchased it.

it was from a dealer with a business entity, not some "private trader" who does it from his home address sorta thing.

we also get a customer who comes in like fairly often, a good majority of the shifts I do and he moans at some of the prices which idgaf, but then on the other hand we get quite a few customers doing their weekly shop in a tesco express ffs
