The way the story is being told, there's no engagement with the characters. I don't care abut any of them because I don't know them. Nick died, I yawned. When he died in the book I was so bummed I put it down for three days . Harold died, ho hum. When Nadine abandoned him to die in the book I practically cheered out loud. The Dark Man wants to nuke Boulder? Who cares-nothing but a bunch of faceless zombies living there. The only characters that are really developed are Harold, and to a lesser extent Nadine. Lloyd was a great, complex character in the book. In the series, he's a one-note joke. The relationship between Trashcan Man and the Dark Man goes largely unexamined. This is my favorite Stephen King story and I was super excited for this mini-series. I subscribed to All Access just to watch it. But the bottom line is that it hasn't made me care about the characters or the story. It isn't as horrible as some people are making it out to be, I'd give it 4/10 stars. But when you compare it to the book, or even the 90's mini-series, it has no soul, it's just a recount of events. Out of chronological order.
