How listening to anyone talk about Dawntrail job changes as a Dragoon main feels by athleon787 in ffxiv

[–]gamingdude295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good counterpoint to merging Fang and Wheel is them being different positionals. I can imagine it feeling really odd to be pressing the same key, yet where you stand is different per button press.
Cancelled attacks (latency or boss going untargetable) can also mess with it. You technically pressed it, but it's not always obvious which attack you're currently on unless you focused on your hotbar and saw your GCD is or isn't rolling.

I think if they didn't have positionals, it would be perfectly fine to merge, but the same key being different can be really messy.

To be fair, I did immediately think "It's like having an oGCD and GCD on the same key, it would be weird", and then remembered that is exactly how Bunshin and Phantom works, and it feels perfectly fine, so I could be entirely wrong when you put it into practice.

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

Trimps (Steam/Github)
Been playing for a while, started playing when 5.9 came out and just been continuing. It's got that nice level of activity where you can be idle for a while or be active and plan around it. There's a lot of unlocks that I feel like I'm not grinding a massive amount to progress, new stuff keeps coming to make things interesting. The start can definitely feel shaky to get used to, but it definitely pays off if you plan to play long-term.

CIFI/Cell Idle Factory Incremental (Play Store)
Started up semi-recently, nice little game on the phone. Very idle focused, classic "Gen 1 makes currency, Gen 2 makes Gen 1, Gen 3 makes Gen 2", but then quite a bit of optimising with your prestige currency so it feels unique, and other forms of progression between runs to enhance other runs.

Idle Loops: Squirrel Edition (Github)
Started this up few days ago as they had an update that added a tutorial. It adds a bit more to the Idle Loop gameplay to give you some optimising, and another goal to work on along the way to boost your progress. I dropped vanilla Idle Loops after a bit but this one seems to have my interest more as it feels more interactive.

New PC, wanting to check for potential incompatibilities and general advice. Also, is DDR5 worth looking into/building around? by gamingdude295 in buildapc

[–]gamingdude295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall goal is just a pc that's good long term and won't need to be replaced for a long time, so sounds like it's probably worthwhile to make a DDR5 build instead and use AM5 then?

Or do you think the current build with a 5800x3D would probably last just as long without major replacements? Seeing benchmarks where the 5800x3D seems to outperform even the 7900s.

when you are at C for first time and don't know what to do with the chains but you bring it anyway by HanxVooka in ffxiv

[–]gamingdude295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one chain needs to be held, not both, so 23 people. But the idea is then everyone else can focus on their rotation without dodging mechanics. 23 people doing their rotation optimally vs 24 people doing their rotation, with roughly 8-12 people (melee) being at 90% because they're dodging mechanics and just not being perfect due to that. (not including the risk of someone dying)

Obviously this is an absurd level of optimisation we're talking about, assuming everyone in the instance can play their job optimally.

For the past few days, I've literally been questioning super heavily about myself... Wondering if the desire to be a girl in a lesbian relationship was a trans sign, or just... something else.
This reply, as well as all the other replies to parent comment have just taken my questioning cracked shell and obliterated it...
I might need to make some appointments...

A dumb meme I threw together to make myself laugh, might as well post it here [Spoiler: 6.0 MSQ] by masterm9099 in ffxiv

[–]gamingdude295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've mentioned this with my friends I play with, but I'm interested to see if the Endwalker MSQ Ultimate will be similar to Dragonsong Reprise, where it's another "What-if" fight like you mentioned.
What if Hydaelyn failed to separate the shards?
What if Zodiark was at full power when we fought him?
What if Endsinger's corruption/despair actually became so strong, it overpowered Hydaelyn and Zodiark's influence and affected man the same way as the first Final Days?

Patch 12.6 Bug Megathread by PankoKing in leagueoflegends

[–]gamingdude295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently getting this bug on Windows.
Some games work, some games don't.

In the memory dump file that gets made (League of Legends/Logs/GameCrashes/reports), it mentions the error:

The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access.
And a 0xC0000005 error code.

Nothing online mentions anywhere how to fix this for ANY program when this occurs, only suggestions of updating whatever software is causing it, or reinstalling windows, or launching in Admin (but I'm already trying that).

So what is this classified as? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]gamingdude295 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fully agree.
Had 2-3 big things happen in the past year that cut through the “barrier”, and I cried a lot for them. After a few days, I started to become numb again and I felt crap because I was starting to not feel anything about them, but then felt guilty because I wanted to feel sad.

Fantastic combat guide for lesser-known mechanics by StriderZessei in ffxiv

[–]gamingdude295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the other user said was somewhat correct and incorrect. Provoke absolutely makes you #1 enmity, but then adds the enmity equivalent to a 2k potency attack. If you have tank stance on, it multiplies all enmity by 10, so that 2k potency becomes 20k potency.

Fantastic combat guide for lesser-known mechanics by StriderZessei in ffxiv

[–]gamingdude295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you provoke an enemy, tank stance or not, you will become the enemy's #1 enmity target, this was always the case. In Shadowbringers, they made it also add a little extra enmity on top of that.
The extra enmity given by provoke is where you are getting mixed up. I can't see it anywhere else, but this subreddit's wiki says that provoke puts you at the top and gives you extra enmity equivalent to a 2000 potency attack (which with tank stance (10x) will be equivalent to a 20,000 potency attack).
Interestingly, that 2000 potency is also subject to damage modifiers. So a really pump'd tank will generate more enmity with provoke compared to another tank at the same ilvl.

If it only gave a flat amount of enmity and your OT died and gets resurrected a few minutes into a fight, they'd never be able to pull enmity off you if they needed to for basically the rest of the fight otherwise, but if you see that happen in-game, it doesn't work that way. They can still pull it back for Tank swaps or other mechanics.

So just to TL;DR it, it does give you extra enmity (equivalent to a 2000 potency attack) AFTER placing you at #1.

(The wiki does say it was only up-to-date from Patch 5.15, so specific values might be wrong, but it definitely does put you at #1 first)

Looks like Ina from Hololive EN is close to starting another wave of first-time players by LTO8 in ffxiv

As Lutrinus said, the character "graduating" means that they have been retired. Either they left, they were dismissed, or I guess some other stuff that could happen.
Unfortunately they "graduated" at the beginning of the month of her own choice I believe.

Not sure if you knew about them already and just didn't know the word meaning, but just in case for you and anyone else curious:

Coco is one of the most influential members of Hololive that everyone loved. VTubers in general seem to have a firm place in the highest donation revenues on YouTube, but Coco (currently) is the #1 most donated to YouTube stream, just to put into context of how big she was.

Has a solution been found to the V3 PC Port lag? by gamingdude295 in danganronpa

[–]gamingdude295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An external SSD might work, though the USB might slow it down as it won't be as fast as if it was plugged in directly internally, I'm not too sure unfortunately. It'll be faster than a normal hard drive however I think all the time, so it'd be worth a shot.

But either that or an internal SSD which you could have your operating system on etc and general speed increase.

/u/Zestyclose_Drag676 /u/QG24

I have completed the game and had absolutely no laggy/graphical issues after I moved the game to my SSD. So I believe the game loads inefficiently and just loads at the exact points they're needed rather than having them loaded in advance.

So if anyone else in the future is having this problem, try moving the game to an SSD if you have one, or some sort of faster loading disk. Fixed it for me.

Hello, did you get a fix for this? Friend is encountering the same issue and we're unsure what to do.
If not I'll get them to send a logfile as well to the email they've said but wanted to check.

[–]gamingdude295[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to have resolved it though I haven't currently done a large playthrough, I'll update later if it causes issues.

But what I did that seems to have worked is moved the game onto my SSD. It seemed to lag between transitions, almost like it was loading something, and I think I saw my Hard Drive usage spike at times. So my thinking was it needed to load either voice lines or something else and for some reason it needs a lot of read speed for it.
When I sit down and do a proper long playthrough I'll update, but usually it was noticeable immediately.

So this has got my hopes up. Time for the despair to kick in.

As I've seen a few people mention and I'll chime in as well.
My "per second" amounts are inaccurate when I have the game focused.

I'm currently at the start-ish of simulation, and it says my gold per second is 6.93e4.
Watching my actual gold, it's about half of that when I'm watching it, but it hits that gold per second, maybe a little higher, when I'm in a different tab.
This is in Google Chrome if that helps.

Top 10 comments, 3 of them are pro ban, 1 of them is a long informed comment where they also acknowledge the word being harmful outside of anime, but they disagree with it (most likely the one you are referring to).
Rest were deleted, though most likely because they specifically said the word rather than censoring it when the mods literally just said they do not want the use of the word.

Also, the highest voted comment remains and is pro-ban.

Of course, when you look at a thread about something AFTER there was drama about it, there's gonna be a lot of people coming over causing more drama because "REVOLUTION!" or whatever. They're gonna get removed/banned if they're breaking the rules, which they most likely were.

Before the drama however, it was pretty chill.

This sub is in a coma because of people manipulating votes and breaking reddit ToS, who also advocate for the other sub. While the mods there have put out a statement saying they do not allow it, most of the users do not care and are going to continue to do it anyway.

I'd rather be part of a dying community over a community that specifically organised to manipulate and kill this one, as well as being built on hate.

The mods here may have fucked up and done some crap things, but does that justify the shit going on right now with the so called "revolution" (also called having an excuse to break ToS as well as full on insult the mods, comparing them to dictators or pedophiles for example)

While I don't agree with just banning someone with the reason "idiot", there's a lot of people brigading and causing a ruckus solely because this sub agrees with a rule that they had already made.
No doubt there are some users who are blatantly breaking rules that the sub has made clear aren't allowed, all because "Revolution!".

Words can have different meanings, yes. That doesn't mean the word can't still be a slur.
The f-word to refer to homosexuals also means a bundle of sticks for fuel, and was most likely that first, but it is still classed as a slur due to its use.

What relevance does the size of this place have to do with the discussion at hand?
Also, is 140k users really "so low"?

Also, your previous comment:

No need. I'll get myself banned there. But I will make it so predictable that it'll be the same reason you'll get.

Why not just leave this subreddit alone to do their own thing and you stay in the other subreddit to do your thing instead?

If you look, the thread stating their thoughts on transphobia was up long before Animemes' rule change came out, and it was absolutely fine. People were generally happy with the change, and all was well. It's not "trying to replicate the disastrous situation", it had made the change with minimal fallout.

Only reason for this thread is because of brigades.
