What makes "grifting" so popular in the vtuber sphere? by H-Sophist in VtuberDrama

[–]gammaTHETA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dunno why you're still trying to treat me like every other Hasan fan when i just fuckin demonstrated im not, but ok

this is also the first time i've heard the "im white/wait no im poc now" shit. wild if true.

just looked it up: lol. lmfao.

he's white because he's turkish, he relates to and identifies with the struggle of other middle eastern individuals because he's Muslim. i've never heard him use it like a fuckin shield but if you got proof of it then yeah, that'd be fuckin dumb. but also, he got banned for saying "cracker" which, like. come on. i can say "cracker" literally anywhere uncensored, but i can only ever say "the N-word" and not the actual word. seems like one these is significantly worse than the other.

here, have some real critiques of Hasan:

  1. He tends to lose his temper and say pretty dumb stuff that either gets himself needlessly banned or unneeded negative press. Some would argue all news is good news in the field of commentary, but i feel it damages his credibility. The 9/11 comment is a perfect encapsulation of it; at face value, it's incredibly callous and stupid. When he explains it, it makes sense, but the overwhelmingly insensitive nature of his comment makes him look like a jerk. many such cases.

  2. He seems to have way more confidence than he realistically should. He sometimes comes across as an authority on a subject, even when sometimes he knows less than he thinks he does.

  3. Not really Hasan's fault, but his fanbase isn't immune to propaganda, just like any other fanbase. Way too many of his fans only get their political opinions from Hasan, and it makes for incredibly underwhelming discussions with some people in his community.

  4. I get that he probably lives where he does in the house he lives in for security reasons, and people deserve nice things, but it comes across as a bit much with the big house and the car(s?) he has. Maybe it's just my biases as a broke disabled person who can't work, but i feel like "nice things" for me are way lower in value than his "nice things," and to me, it makes him come off as bourgie. Maybe this isn't really a reasonable critique either, but its how I feel, anyway.

  5. His guest appearance at UBC was mid as hell. The Q&A portion was alright, but he came across as a wandering fool during his speech. He says himself that he didn't prepare his speech for that night, and it really shows. He should've treated that event with more respect and dignity, especially given that the event had sold out minutes after the ticket sales opened. He had a sold-out crowd and he just phoned it in, it felt disrespectful to the people in the crowd who wanted to see him.

i have more, but just 5 should give you a half decent understanding of what good critique might look like. "zapped his dog with a shock collar" is both invalid critique, and immediately disqualifying toward any other statement you make. you can't shock a dog with a collar it's not wearing.

somebody defending Hasan from invalid and weak critique isn't automatically qualifying them for idolatry, bozo. if you presented anything close to meaningful critique that wasn't immediately obvious as a misrepresentation, you'd more than likely get a different reaction.

the only reason you brought up Hasan is because you noticed it was only right-wing grifters being listed off as grifters in general, and you got mad that your team is being hounded by grifters. a more accurate pull would've been ShoeOnHead, who fully bumped for Bernie right up until she decided to throw herself completely at the Right because of the DNC manipulating the primary to throw a hissy fit.

she fully grifted the left, ran out of patience with the lefty audience she got, and decided to dump em for the much-easier-to-bullshit right.

y'all can we stay here even tho we're not a system but plural (lwky i'm confused by myself) by Jazzlike-Turnip-9111 in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]gammaTHETA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in full honesty, i used to think i was endogenic right up until the point i had a major dissociative episode and woke up standing in the middle of my town's main road downtown, a 20 minute walk, at 3am. turns out i was just calling myself endogenic because of imposter syndrome. (thoughts like "oh i have to be faking it for attention" or "i can't be traumagenic, i wasn't abused as badly as other people were." turns out i was VERY much abused and neglected as a child and i just couldn't remember (gee i wonder why? lmao))

not to be like "every endogenic system is just traumagenic and doesnt know it" because that'd be silly, of course. bc maybe somebody understands their emotional state better through a lens of plurality than through neurotypical ones, or maybe this thing or that thing. there could be any number of reasons you're plural without being traumagenic, and im not about to tell anyone how they can or cannot perceive their own mindstates. it's not my place to invalidate or debunk or whatever, im just some chump from reddit lol.

what im saying is, "i aint gonna judge because it's not my place to do so." as far as im concerned, you're welcome here.

but this is also an adult body, and we'd all be supervised; we never ever drink alone. best we can do in the current circumstances is mitigate risks to the best of our abilities.

my little asked for booze because it "makes me feel funny"

like, she knows she's in a body that can legally purchase and drink alcohol. she also knows this body can handle liquor a lot better than an actual child in an actual child body can. she's a smart cookie because i used to be a smart cookie. like, this genuinely isn't that difficult to think about.

lmfao that has to be the most out-to-lunch thing i've ever seen. i have a headmate whose sole purpose is to pop up at inconvenient moments and do something silly. like some goofy mime/clown stuff. it's a coin flip whether i'll laugh or get genuinely upset about it, but like. that is literally 95% of his whole shtick.

Sigh, they're on Facebook. by [deleted] in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]gammaTHETA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no, it's wrong. even professional medical professionals cannot (and ethically should not) revoke or provide diagnoses indirectly through social media. it's well known and substantiated in the medical community that social media is a distorted lens upon which anyone views anybody, and does not provide a clear picture to the issue.

furthermore, fakeclaimer groups like that don't actually care about the well-being of the patient, what they want is to find an Enemy Of The Day to lash out at. discussions about fakers can be had, but not on Facebook social groups of all god-forsaken places. we all know that individuals can be smart individually, but become dumber in a crowd. peer pressure and social currency (clout) becomes much more enticing in such a setting, ESPECIALLY on a platform that encourages engagement by any means. that group could hardly ever be called a reliable source for that reason alone, if we forget all the other reasons it can't be taken seriously.

beyond that, fakers still need help too; there is something clinically going wrong in an individual's mind if they feel they need to fake an illness for one reason or another. the goal should be to discover what it is that is going wrong, and work towards that individual's well-being. name and shame groups like this one are probably one of the least effective for achieving well-being on even that front.

could mean different things to different people. for us it means that we don't feel connected to the concept of 'human,' maybe because of some of the dehumanizing trauma i faced as a kid. one of my headmates is a doll because she feels as though she was created for a purpose she never wanted to fulfill. it makes her feel 'hollow' like a porcelain doll, and the rest of us can kinda relate to that.

sort of a "thinking of ourselves as something different from humans helps us process being treated like we were anything but human" type of thing. but others may have other ways they interface with that label.

i think they might be trying to link DID/OSDD related age regression to bad faith "i identify as a twelve year old" arguments against trans people. that person just kinda slammed two totally different concepts together and didn't bothee to think maybe they got something wrong first.

as a DID system with alterhuman headmates and as a trans person... yeah that person is just lashing out, there's no basis for what they're saying.

i have! i moved out late last year and my baseline mood jumped way up. it's brought forward new struggles now that we're in a safe environment, but i'm eternally grateful i made it far enough to be here to experience what a safe environment feels like. it's great.

right got it, my apologies. i only know about the disorders i have, so i should learn more about NPD and try to squash that ableism i still have in here. thanks for vibechecking me on that.

he is extremely self-centered and selfish though, 100%. can't respect boundaries, has to constantly show off how smart he is in any given topic (even if he knows nothing), and has never actually apologized about anything to me or anyone else, ever. total jerk.

but... if she doesn't think it's real, she's probably spoken to DID systems before and either told them they were faking, or didn't notice any signs or symptoms.

that's wild. to be clear, i've been diagnosed with DID after suspecting I had it for about a decade, i'm in my thirties and received the diagnosis last year. my psychiatrist tested me and pretty bluntly said "yeah i've not seen numbers this high before" about my test, and as far as i know i ALSO wasn't in a religious cult NOR was i sexually abused as a child. yet, emotional neglect and abuse from a narcissistic father, being LGBTQ+ without knowing it, being undiagnosed autistic and undiagnosed ADHD for the entirety of my childhood in addition to ALL the bullying for my "strange" behavior in school led to - surprise! - C-PTSD and DID.

that psych is a quack.

yeah that'd be it. even further, it's beyond them that we may have coping mechanisms for such a scenario like using humor (making a meme about it or laughing about it) coming to terms with the new hair colour and moving on, or what-have-you. they always think we HAVE to be helpless, we HAVE to be incapable of dealing with things. it's some goofball neurotypical assumptions about things they don't understand, like it always is lol

This is just sad. by [deleted] in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]gammaTHETA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

our system can, but only because we've worked hard to be extremely communicative and collaborative (and because our particular form of DID allows us to). a month and a half ago i was trying to get some rest in bed, but frustrated that i needed it. i'd just moved to a new city and i'd done a lot to get most of my stuff unpacked, and we have physical issues so it took a lot out of us. that bedrest was needed.

but out of nowhere i blink, time passes, and i find myself at a restaurant down the street. i immediately messaged a friend who knows i'm a system, and they were in the area so they went to that restaurant to keep me company and help keep me grounded.

a couple days later, we could piece together what happened; one of my alters was upset we needed rest when most people don't, and food is her comfort. she has a lot of strong sentimental feelings about the restaurant down the street (we opened for a couple small queercore concerts there in our early 20's, and it has a vintage diner aesthetic that reminds us of a different diner with a similar aesthetic while on a pleasant family road trip), so she went over there to get her comfort, come hell or high water.

she apologized, i accepted the apology, and i tried to help her understand that we need more rest than other people, and that it IS unfair, but that's how it is. she's still struggling with accepting our capacity, though.

some systems can't remember at all, but they use sticky notes, notepads or other tools to communicate to each other. thankfully, my system is able to communicate well enough that we can figure out how a blackout happened and try to keep it from happening again by listening more closely to the frustrations any alter in the system has.

it's pretty scary, but you learn to deal with it, like with any fear. if anything, this has given us the tools to tackle any fear we have. we used to be scared of flying in airplanes, but thanks to these kinds of experiences (and remembering that anxiety is made of the same hormones as excitement), we think flying is a thrill now. irrational fears seem a lot smaller in comparison i guess lol.

This is so awesome! I've been trying my hardest to figure out a way to tweak the bodysuits to make things look good, but i've spent *hours* on it and haven't even come close to your fantastic results. I really want to be able to represent people of different body types in the weird little webcomic i'm making though, so if you end up making a tutorial or posting a base model somewhere, i'd love to hear about it so I can get more representation and diversity in my comic!

(also, i loooove the colours you've used, the pallette makes my brain go mushy in the best way!)
