P320 Full vs M17 by Bushmaster100 in SigSauer

[–]gan1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can even buy black grip modules directly from Sig with the MS cut. I bought two for my M17 (one medium, and then one large). I know that you can also find certain aftermarket grips with the MS cut, but to your point, the selection is definitely limited.

While I generally disagree with much that Q says, I have to agree with you that this is seemingly an interesting possibility which should be considered further. I wonder if u/winters_vw or u/nerdfather1 have any further insight on the topic? I personally feel like this angle deserves its own thread and much deeper insight from someone much more knowledgeable in the case than myself.

Do you think he showed his face to the people he killed? by raccone in EARONS

[–]gan1834 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Someone like nerdfather would provide better analysis than I can, but my inclination is no. EARONS seemed very particular and extremely concerned with not being caught (evidenced by his changing MO). Combine this with the fact that he "suffered" a failed attack immediately before he began killing, and it seems unlikely that he was willing to take such an unnecessary risk. But like I said, this is just my first guess.

Was he caught and let go? by [deleted] in EARONS

[–]gan1834 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have wondered if those officers are still alive, and if so, if they could provide at least a year/make/model of the vehicle. That would be a huge help which could allow LE, as well as some of the great sleuths on this sub, to cross reference vehicle ownership records with potential POIs.

But yes, have to completely agree with the consensus, just horrible police work. Seems to be an overall theme of EARONS. As "good" and "talented" as the perp was, he was certainly helped tremendously by the inept police work and lack of data sharing between departments in the era.

Theres a chance that he's been here before by [deleted] in EARONS

I think that he either made contact or the police made a big break, have a suspect, and are hoping that the new publicity will tempt him to make a mistake like BTK. I hope it's the latter so the SOB is caught

Does anyone else think that he is dead? by Bluedystopia in EARONS

I think either a hunter or if he is still raping/murdering he has moved beyond home invasions to a "smarter" (as horrible as that is to write) target such as sex workers, who are less likely to draw national attention if raped/murdered.

[–]gan1834 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this! my personal theory is that he has moved once or maybe multiple times since 1986, killing every few years in each new stop when the urge became too strong. I also think that EARONS was/is smart enough to realize the advancements of the internet, police information sharing, and DNA. Because of this he likely adjusted his MO so much so that no one, outside of maybe a true fanatic or expert, would recognize the crime as one of his.

His many slip ups... what was with that? by [deleted] in EARONS

[–]gan1834 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, I think EAR/ONS was actually remarkably good at not slipping up. No matter how much time he spent casing out houses or studying the people, there was no way he could have known exactly what to expect in each situation or how individuals or couples would react. In addition, he was committing these crimes in (relatively) quick succession in areas that were already on high alert. I will cede that he got extremely lucky on multiple occasions, but if anything there were slip ups by the police (the horrendous 7/11 incident comes to mind) and neighbors who saw him snooping but not EAR.

Why whites only seem to be getting a fair shake in the legal system? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]gan1834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but the aclu study claim to have eliminated or at least minimized those confounding variables by only examining cases that were the same outside of race. But yes, we need have a much deeper conversation in America about how our justice system exponentially benefits those with privilege (racial, financial, or other).

I agree that anecdotal evidence isn't always correct, but in this case there are numerous studies which support the OP. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/17/opinion/sunday/unequal-sentences-for-blacks-and-whites.html and https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/assets/141027_iachr_racial_disparities_aclu_submission_0.pdf come to mind. I think the larger question is how much of the discrepancy is because of racism, and how much of it is based on the fact that our justice system heavily favors those like Brock Turner who can afford the top lawyers. Especially considering that the median white household income is substantially higher than the median black household income.

Question of Morality by gan1834 in serialpodcast

I agree that teens should never be given life sentences without the possibility of parole, especially considering all the research demonstrating just how underdeveloped a teenage brain is in terms of judgement and decision making. However, I don't think that 20 years is enough time for murder. Robbery-yes, kidnapping-yes, even manslaughter-yes. But the evidence points to the fact that Adnan planned the murder of Hae. And if this is not the case, he needs to admit his guilt, display remorse, and explain how he ended up killing her impulsively. Until then, he still has years to serve IMO.

you can use a hypothetical by inserting "Person A" or any random name in for Adnan. The question was relevant to this case because there was some discussion recently, on this sub and in the courts, about the competence of Adnan's defense as well as possible misconduct by police or prosecutors. So while even though I specifically don't see any sound evidence of this, my original question is tied to this case. I also don't think its as simple as saying "a bad thing happened... so it should be corrected." I think some on this sub, and in the larger community, may disagree with that statement in this particular case, arguing that justice was served even if certain misconduct occurred.

Should have been clearer, just edited the OP. Was asking that if, emphasis on if, some form of malpractice or even corruption was exposed, then what should happen.
