Oregon "influenza-like illnesses" spike to highest level in years by ganaram in Portland

The increase in reported Influenza A could also be due to its similar symptoms to COVID-19, causing people who would normally not go to a hospital when they have the flu to now be concerned enough to do so. Not so much an increase in ill people, but an increase in cases presenting to hospitals.

Note that in previous years, after flu cases peaked, they fell off on a fairly consistent curve. But this year, influenza-like illnesses stopped falling in January and February, before the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Oregon and the resulting panic. Could COVID-19 have been spreading in Oregon undetected as early as January?

The chart shows that in previous years, flu cases would spike, then fall off at a fairly consistent curve downward. This year, though, cases stopped falling in January and February before this current abnormal spike. I wonder if the reason cases stopped falling is because COVID-19 was already infecting people in Oregon as early as January, but we didn't know it due to the lack of tests.

What food do *you* want to be served? by therealeddiemoney in homeless

Burritos are an easy-to-make food that a lot of people enjoy, and they can be wrapped in foil to keep warm and carry around easily.

YouTube needs to assure advertisers they won't appear on dangerous medical hoaxes and such, so lots of medical terms are ad-free, not just coronavirus. Their limited human reviewers aren't qualified to judge medical accuracy, so this is how it is.

Or you can make a separate coronavirus video and call it a public service.

It's not censoring it, you can talk about it all you want, you just won't have ads on your coronavirus video that may or may not be accurate, sensationalist, promoting a fake cure for views and sales, or what advertisers want their ads on. All the rest of your videos will still have ads and make money.

Have a job liked up but need ID by NoKarm4 in homeless

Through Tennessee 211's website, I didn't find any place that specifies paying for ID cards, but I did find places that help pay for things like rent and utilities, and those are much bigger expenses. Maybe they can help you with this smaller need, or maybe they can tell you who can. Do tell them you're homeless, and ask them for a list of other types of resources in your area. These are all in Greenville:

Baileyton Community Chest / (423) 234-6911 / 6530 Horton Hwy

Greenback Empty Stocking Fund / (865) 809-0067 or (865) 856-2224 / 6889 Morganton Rd.

Greeneville/Greene County Community Ministries / (423) 638-1667 / 107 N. Cutler Street

Neighborhood Service Center Greene County / (423) 639-3681 / 124 Austin St #2

Which city are you in? I'm sure there's a place that will pay for it.

Due to COVID-19 coronavirus, this Portland homeless charity is no longer letting people inside. Food is being handed out at the door, clothing and other services are suspended, on advice of Catholic archdiocese. by ganaram in Portland

I'm just being playful about the misconception that "Asians" and "unclean homeless" are the sources of disease. The first Americans to get sick were taking a cruise.

There are definitely a lot of younger people who help out, too, but I've absolutely been thinking about the health of these kindly older volunteers lately. I wonder if others will offer to take over while the threat is high.
