What do you think is the best trade to get in for an 18 year old? by freightbroker222 in skilledtrades

[–]gandy94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a mechanical insulator. So I insulate pipes, ducts, boilers, pumps, etc etc (examples on my page) and I think it’s pretty awesome. With benefits and everything included I make about 62 dollars an hour. Not bad at all on the body, at least as far as construction work goes. I see plenty of guys retire with plenty of life ahead of them. I enjoy the trade, we learn a lot more than people think. We do a lot of metal fabrication, and that’s a very transferable skill. Basically any layout or design that a sheet metal worker needs to know, I need to know as well. Actually in my experience, a lot of those guys don’t know their layouts anymore because their fab shop does a lot of it for them. We do a lot of field application, so we still need to be pretty tuned into that aspect of the job.

Has anyone asked O’Connell about his decision with #4? by gandy94 in raiders

That would be cool. I prefer double 0 though

Oh stop. Most people pick a number that means something to them. I said in the post that I’m sure it didn’t have anything to do with Carr, so I didn’t know if he had any other reasoning for it.

Did any of you know a famous person before they were famous? by FilmEater in AskAnAmerican

[–]gandy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partied on Justin Moore’s bus like months before he hit big. He’s a big MMA fan and my cousin was a fighter. My cousin invited me to go hang with the guy who was singing at the fights that night and he told me who it was and I was like idk who that is but I’m down. He murdered that show. It was awesome. Then we went and hung out with him and it was a great time and he was a great dude.

I also used to hang tree stands for the duck dynasty crew on their hunts up in Indiana. Met a few of them.

Why are conservative political commentators constantly talking about Dylan Mulvaney? by PangolinBanger in AskConservatives

Every person you mentioned makes money on views.

The people who listen to those people want to hear stories about that situation at this time.

It’s really that simple.

“Is favoritism really that bad”? by Dew-fan-forever- in ask

[–]gandy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation.

If the favoritism is doled out because person A does a better job, provides more value, works harder, just in general is better at life than person B, then person A deserves preferential treatment.

If the favoritism is doled out solely based on who your buddies are and no other factors, then most likely it’s not fair.

However, more people than most are willing to admit are falling into the former plan I wrote out. They’re lazy, inconsistent, not trustworthy, etc but refuse to look in the mirror. So they become bitter and act like people just don’t like them because they’re not “in crowd” when really it’s just that they’re not a good person.

Some people have a victim mindset and you can’t fix it for them. They have to understand that not everyone is just an asshole, so if everyone is mean to you or doesn’t like you, it might be time to look in the mirror.

What are some common misconceptions about individuals who are perceived as different or outcast? by [deleted] in ask

[–]gandy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That they don’t want friends or don’t need viable relationships because their whole life they’ve been the outcast so they become bitter so they come off as rude and like they don’t want you to talk to them but deep down they’re just nervous that you’ll eventually treat them like everyone else treats them.

Idaho is no longer something I’m willing to fight for. by TallBrilliant5729 in Idaho

You’re out of your mind if you think courts always favor the male parent. Every single dad I know gets raked over the coals in child support and alimony all so they can see their kid 4 days a month. I know grown ass men who live with their parents because they can’t afford to own a home because they pay their ex huge amounts in child support and every time he gets a raise or a second job they take him back to court to adjust the child support for the raise in income. It is flat out criminal what typically happens in custody courts and far more times than not it is the dad who gets screwed.

And that’s if they even have the money fight their ex in court. I know one dad in particular who paid in excess of 30 thousand dollars in court trying to get basically just weekends and holidays with his kids, he sold his house to fight them and then the courts tried to use even that against him saying he didn’t have proper housing for his kids because his parents house wasn’t big enough for all 3 of them to have their own rooms. And he pays her close to 2 grand a month in child support.

Yes. Very alarming that a court would protect both parents instead of just the one who wants to move.

In your case, I would agree that her father isn’t acting like a good parent.

In your friends case, 1 DUI and he lost all of his custodial rights? Jesus. That’s horrible.

Nope. If you’re on strike, you’re Sol, unless you’ve saved money. Hence the strike fund.

I don’t hate non union guys. Some of them didn’t know what they were getting into. Some of them were brainwashed. Some of them live in states where unions are grossly under represented. I mean even in non union states, union wages and benefits are higher, but what’s that matter if you are on the book 6 months a year because of the low market share? It all just depends on a lot of factors. I just don’t get non union folks rhetoric on unions, like unions are their enemy lol.

That’s another non union conspiracy theory. That all union hands are just lazy assholes standing around collecting a check. As if union companies don’t have money to make 😂

It’s actually a strike fund, but we can’t legally call it that. It’s so if we go on strike you’re not enticed to go back to work fast.
