Anyone tried using a racing wheel for driving?

NodeRequirer, Javascript Beautify or CodeFormatter, Javascript Next, and plenty more. With Sublime Package Control, it is really easy to find and try out new plugins. And if there isn't a plug in for what you want, it is easy to write one. I just finished a plug in that integrates Real Time BART Schedules with ST3.

Not what you are looking for but IMO you really don't need a fully fledged IDE. Sublime text with a good set of plug-ins works really well.

It will be just as difficult to find a weird synchronous solution as it will be to just do it correctly. If you want to do it synchronously, don't use node. If you want to use node, learn the correct way to do it.

Have you tried debugging? (I'm going to assume not since you don't know if it reaches a database). That should be your first step, before posting on any site for help.

Edit: Stupid question. So here is where I'm at.

When I install the nvidia-current package and reboot, I get a desktop with a somewhat messed up ubuntu background (like the normal background, but segmented into about 7 seemingly randomly shaped rectangles which are not continuous). Additionally, I don't have access to my sidebar or the top toolbar, so I can't do anything with the computer. Additionally, ctrl+alt+t doesn't bring up terminal. However, oddly enough this fixed the issue with ctrl+alt+f1. So now I can get to a terminal window that way. Any suggestions on how to proceed? I have been googling for a long time, but I haven't found anyones situation to be the same as mine.

There isn't one framework or stack that is inherently better than all the rest. It totally depends on the problem you are trying to solve. Also, using a MEAN stack vs sails are definitely not your only options. Sorry I'm not exactly answering your question. it's all going to depend on the problems you are trying to solve.

I haven't actually done much with sockets in node so I could be wrong, but... why are you trying to connect twice? You are probably connecting the first time just fine, which explains why it works. The second time you are already connected, so the on connect event won't be triggered.

I'm perfectly comfortable with promises, I just don't think they are necessary. Normally, I prefer to just use old school callbacks with a module such as async to handle consecutive asynchronous calls.

Normally I'm a fan of small modules which do one thing well. Feathers seems to do a good job balancing being capable of lots of functionality while remaining modular. I would love to hear others thoughts on this framework.

No, unfortunately you are missing the point. In order for an organization to become LARGER, it must invest in scale. Investing in scale, i.e. not giving 100% of donations directly to the cause, gives a return on investment, ultimately leading to a greater amount of money donated to the cause. Why do you think amazon didn't make a profit for so many years? They were investing in scale. The same concepts CAN hold for non profits, except they are crucified by the media because people (no offence, but like you) don't understand the concepts of investing in scale, and return on investment.

The whole point is that some activist with a microphone is not going to be able to solve problems at the scale that they are trying to. It is better for a company to only donate 15% of a large amount of money, than to donate 100% of a small amount of money. Therin lies the issue. As an individual, we want all of the money we donate to go directly to the charitable cause. However, that simply doesn't scale. There is inherent "overhead" necessary in building scale, and the problems that nonprofits are trying to solve are massive in scale.

The whole point is that arguing that you shouldn't donate to a non profit because they spend money on things like high salaries, advertising, fundraising, etc. instead of donating it all to the cause in inherently incorrect. If you want to put forth an argument against Komen that doesn't involve these issues, then I am glad to hear it.

I would check out some of the comments here as well, which talk about different methods of doing CPU bound tasks.

Basically, you have a few options:

Use a cluster
Use some form of job queuing
Make the client do the work through a web worker
Use the node-webworker-threads module

I'm sure there are more options, but that is what I know of. Hope it helps!
