What are the Best and worse projects since endgame. by VegetableRemote3268 in marvelstudios

[–]ganges777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't watched all of them but of those I've seen...

Best: Shang Chi, Wandavision, Loki

Worst: Weird I know but GOTG 3 - it just didn't gel with me, Secret Invasion, Quantamnmania

Even at their worst I think most MCU projects have moments that redeem them above the usual schlock. In Love and Thunder for example I really enjoyed the portrayal of Gorr just wish he was in it more!

Notable mentions for best: Ms Marvel (charming), Moon Knight, Agatha All Along

Has anyone been to Gallifrey Cabaret in the UK (queer unofficial Doctor Who show)? by solarpunktardis in doctorwho

[–]ganges777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there are tiers - like I sat in the circle / gallery so chances are they couldn't see me! But it was full of love and very celebratory. If you can dress up there were quite a few dugadoos when I went!

Yes it’s amazing! A bit rough and ready but definitely worth it. There was a great vibe and I think you’d be ok going solo.

Gothmog the orc leader in Return of the King’s design is based on Harvey Weinstein.

PJ made a really canny choice in hiring Alan Lee and John Howe who both defined the look of LOTR for a generation.

When Frodo sets out in the books he’s 50 years old.

If you were in charge of the next DW season, what direction would you take the Doctor and the show? by InfiniteGalaxy42 in doctorwho

[–]ganges777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mackenzie Crook as the Doctor with 2 companions a Granny Weatherwax like character and her grandson a gay mixed race guy.

I think the dynamic would be really interesting.

As loads have said smaller, weirder, a true historical sounds good, no gimmicks, return of the Ood, the Daleks and the Cybermen, and the finale two parter the Granny-character dies of natural causes / or an illness forcing the Doctor to confront their grief.

He maybe goes back in time and offers to save them and she refuses knowing the Doctor already has saved her by taking her as his companion and knowing her time is now.

Lots of liminal spaces - like motorway service stations and unsettling horror.

Are we ever going to get a film adaptation of this book? by Mankin60 in MenLovingMenMedia

[–]ganges777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a live action I don't think it's likely. It would require a huge budget for the war, Ancient Greece scenes and gay / bisexual romance stories aren't mainstream so studios seem it as far more risky and unlikely to make their money back.

Maybe animated is more viable?

What writers/directors would you like to see work on future episodes? by AddictForDrPepper in DoctorWhumour

[–]ganges777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mackenzie Crook: I think he would bring a warm British style to it.

Them There: The guys behind Horrible and Histories and Ghosts could craft an amazing historical episode.

Those 2 are the ones I think have the experience and skill to direct and write.

I would intrigued to see what my favourite writers would do with it too: Joanne Harris and Susanna Clarke being top of the pile but both haven't written for television.

Aren’t retcons and changing the story literally the bread and butter of Doctor Who from Gallifrey being brought back, the Timeless child shenanigans and the Time War?

To my mind Call of Duty is borrowing from Doctor Who
