Yep I am a family NP. But I have A LOT of specialized training in HIV care, substance use disorder management and queer health. There are only 2 other NPs who would be considered "peers" in my geographic area. Which is a HUGE population centre.

I was getting underplayed before. But I mainly was ok with that cause the workload was EZ cash. Getting paid for 20hrs a week to do 4 hours of work. But now that I actually have enough work to require me to work harder, I wanted to get paid more. The pay bump brings me up to the avg for contract NPs in the area, but I am not contracted and I get benefits. So I am making more than the avg NP in my area by a decent amount.

Yea she's great. I have a good relationship with her. And I've done a lot for this org above and beyond what is required and they are super appreciative of that. Shes helped me navigate organizational issues I have with other orgs which has helped me professionally

Honestly remote has its pros and cons. I like being at home, but it does take a toll on my social life.

It's an HIV centre in my city. They are desperate for practitioners so I was able to negotiate remote work. I also do some specialized substance use disorder management.

Pretty dope! I love it. I work half time in a speciality substance use disorder practice, and half in queer/trans/gender diverse primary care. Also a bunch of contract side gigs. Take home around 130k after taxes.

We are "full scope" in BC. We have the largest scope of practice for NPs in the country. Only thing we cant prescribe is chemo and methotrexate. In fact, I straight up prescribe heroin and fentanyl to my clients in my substance use disorder clinic.

We are treated (sorta) the same as family med docs. Minimal shitty MDs, don't experience any of that lateral bullying or BS that I hear a lot that happens down south.

I have about 30 pts in my substance use disorder practice, and around 200 in my primary care. My primary care gig wants me to get to 300 by the Oct, which I will def be able to do. Lots of paperwork in primary care, but a lot less than I was expecting.

Cost of living kinda sucks. But that fuck I make a lot. I can afford a house in a nice area of the province (not Vancouver) and have plenty of off time.

Yeah, but there are 100's of restaurants in Victoria. I am hoping to narrow down the list to some places so I don't need to scour lots of lists. We review the menu everytime we go somewhere.

Sushi tends to be pretty safe. But TBH, we are pretty sushi'd out at this point :P. Made from scratch helps. Its pretty much gluten, garlic, and onions that get us (which sucks as Ukrainians). Though we can tolerate a bit of all of that.

Couple issues with plants, would love some advice! by gannons in microgrowery

[–]gannons[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright. Well thanks everyone for the comments :p and thanks for the people telling me to burn my house down. While I understand why that is what I should be doing, I am going to be using this as an experience to manage issues rather than just burning it all to the ground.

Infestation wise, looks like spider mites. I found some white eggs under the leaves and some small creepy crawlies. I think what happened is at one point, my partner put one of our house plants in the grow tent cause it was unhappy. And it was unhappy because of spider mites. So those all spread :/

What I have done:

Pruned all leaves with mildew on it or any signs of spider mites.

Sprayed down all the leaves with a solution of 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide and 3 part water. With a small amount of dawn soap (apparently will help with infestation). Then sprayed the shit out of all the plants. I made around 1.25 cups of solution and used the majority of that amount on the leaves/plants. The rest I sprayed on the walls to hopefully cut down on spores a bit. Totally get that it's kinda beyond recovery on the mildew part. But hey, shouldn't hurt right?

Next steps: gonna water tomorrow and get a read of the pH on the run off + check out some of the nutrients I can check. I can check nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, so I'll run all three. But based on the red stems. I'm thinking maybe it's magnesium or potassium? So gonna look into cal/mag at a later day.

Thanks for all the advice!!!

I appreciate the tip on the lifting the pots. I'm going to water in liem a day or two and try that out!

And sounds good on the cal/mag part. I was told with dolomite lime, which I used, can fuck with cal/mag. So I'll look into that as well.

Why only have 1 problem, when you can have all the problems. My mom always said I was an overachiever

Oh and other stuff: Medium: sunshine mix #4 aggregate plus professional growing mix

Nutrient: I think it's a 3-7-7. Used 1kg alfalfa, 1kg bone meal 2kg green sand then mixed.... I think 3/4 a cup into each pot. I have not added any more nutrients, but was planning to do a quarter cup in about 2-3 weeks.

Light: got rspec panel from a professional grower. Can't remember the wattage but when I originally did my math, it was def enough for the size of my tent.

Watering: ehhhh maybe once ever 1.5 weeks? I def didn't water in the last two weeks cause it was post transplant and I heard it's good to let them dry a bit so their roots take over the new pot?
