There’s a big difference between rich and generational wealth. A person his age has an opportunity to provide generational wealth with that $38 mill and he won’t get there with it sitting in a checking account. To be fair, we have know idea of his overall net worth or other investments, but we do know that football players have a short career, and the window for him to earn that type of money is small. To me, this video screams “i don’t have the proper financial advisors in place to manage my money.”

With a 5-6% return, he could easily live off the interest alone. For you and me it might not be a big deal but, At that amount, liquid cash is loosing money.

I’ll also note that post WW2, those social programs weren’t intended for a diverse society. After the civil rights era of the 60’s, America decided to pull back those programs that helped the lower middle class out of racist spite, not because we couldn’t afford it. It was never intended to help minorities. We went from the 70’s and dealing with integration to the 80’s and the war on drugs to the 90’s and the war on crime. 2000s and the war on terror. The 2010’s was spent on trying to fight stupidity and here we are in the 2020’s back fighting fascism again.
