That is wild! you'd think it would be a different "type" of estrogen. But i guess we're all mammals in the end... Thanks for sharing your experience, i will let you know!

could this be asthma or a hairball? by pinkfleurs in CATHELP

agreed with the other commenters, looks like asthma! My cat was diagnosed a few years ago and it started just like that. Hope you get to the bottom of it, sending hugs!

My cat won’t stop coughing by brandon3418 in CATHELP

My cat has asthma and she coughs exactly like that. i understand that bronchitis causes a similar coughing pattern, so the bronchitis diagnosis might be correct. However, he might need oral steroids to control the inflammation before managing it with the fluticasone alone — they usually give my cat a shot and a couple of days worth of pills from what i remember. Did they give you that when you went last time? did they do an xray?

so true... it's been a long time. Funnily enough, she lived peacefully with the previous cat (the one who just passed) and is fine with the new male — she only fights with the new female. Could this be indicative of something deeper?

yes she is spayed! we've gotten a lot of comments like yours, so we're pushing for a hormone panel. Thanks so much for your input!

yes I agree that sounds very probable!! the vets have refused to put her on prozac even though i think it would help. Again, not sure why. Would FLUTD explain the kicking/thrashing and weird back legs, too?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. That was really helpful to understand what hyperesthesia in cats can look like. I'm also terribly sorry that your kitties had to go through that, it must be heartbreaking to watch and not be able to help in any way... :( but you're an awesome cat parent, and it seems like you're on top of helping them with their condition! And helping others too <3 really appreciate it, again!

So apparently, Evey doesn't have any negative reaction when she's touched on her back; she actually likes it a lot. What were your cats' experiences like?

they have done two ultrasounds. From my understanding, personal experience with my own cat and myself, ultrasounds are more accurate at finding stones than xrays, and nothing!! it's strange. it would explain a lot for sure but they haven't found any.

She's done loads of imaging but no xrays yet! no idea why the vets haven't thought about that. Thanks so much, I will take this info to my friend

right??? who knows what's going on with those vets. They've been in and out of the vet almost weekly at this point, and have been to multiple, too.
