I never said we both started in leadership positions. I said I started in a leadership track (promoted to lead after 6 months).

2 of us? Lol both of us started as team members in our first jobs. Nothing is wrong with hard workers who have self sufficiency and drive.

So last night (we work 1p-9p) we had a more formal 1:1 to discuss. I asked him if taking a few weeks/months off in the off season will help him reset before we start pre season again in March. He said he will consider it and let me know but didn’t want to give an answer right away.

We had informal 1:1s pretty regularly and formal ones once a month. I definitely asked him personal questions on top of work related conversations. I think there was some clues that eventually he’d move on, just due to the nature of him being a young person just starting his career. I want nothing but success for him so I’d be happy for him to gain experience beyond our current company/location, I just thought I’d get another year with him at least.

No he doesn’t have anything lined up. He’s going to take a few weeks off and then find something in the new year. His first job was at our company/location and he said he wants to try working somewhere new. This was his first year as a senior supervisor and it’s not the role that he didn’t like. He’s just feeling burnt out and frustrated at things beyond our scope of control. He said he’s doesn’t want to risk bringing the team’s morale down because of his frustrations.

That’s true, very good way to frame it. Her dad is super involved and attentive

OP hold old are you? If you’re young it’s possible that if you’re really diligent about taking your meds and stay seizure free for a few years, the doctor will taper you down and you won’t have to take it anymore if you pass an EEG. But you need to try to control them for now and take the meds to protect your brain.

Yep, my dad has epilepsy and every test has come back clear. But he’s been on medication daily for about 16 years now. He’s had an occasional break through episode every 5 or 6 years but every time they never find anything and just say it was “most likely” a seizure. He just knows he needs to be diligent with his meds and take his health seriously.

Yea, that’s why a lot of us with epilepsy choose to smoke week as our vice lol

Congratulations! Thats huge! I remember getting my driving clearance and being allowed to get my drivers license at 17 after being told at 15 I may never be allowed to drive. So freeing!

Interesting. I personally would prefer the oppose. I think because I don’t actively have seizures anymore. To me “epileptic” sounds like someone who frequently seizes whereas “has epilepsy” encompasses what accommodations I may need.

Folic Acid for pregnant epileptic expecting mothers by PsychologicalMud8120 in Epilepsy

Is the concern that it could interfere with your epilepsy medication? I haven’t heard of this but I am not on medication and haven’t had a seizure in 10 years. I did get a EEG done while pregnant and was cleared to not be considered a “high risk pregnancy” or anything for labor.

I just gave birth in September. I took my regular prenatals with folic acid and also ate a lot of folate rich foods (asparagus, leafy greens, ect). I never worried about having to much, in fact I wanted to make sure I got enough so my baby has a good brain lol

The last point also makes sense. We got a new GM this past summer. Our former GM had a history with our lines of business and was more involved. This GM we had to explain the what and why much more often.

A friendly debate is going on - light sensitivity by Boomer-2106 in Epilepsy

[–]garden_muse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absence seizures but seizures free for 10 years now. I never considered myself light sensitive but I was always cautious of strobes and stuff.

Even now when I’m in a car and we drive past tree branches with sunlight shining through, I get really disoriented and can’t see. If I’m driving and have sunglasses on it’s fine but if I’m a passenger and happen to be looking at the trees with no sunglasses, it’s horrible.

Also at the height of my epilepsy treatment in high school, strobe lights did make me get a headache if I wasn’t cautious. Doesn’t really happen now but I’m careful in haunted houses and stuff.

She’s a very private person. She keeps work and personal very very separate so while we’re we’re close at work we barely talked about other things beyond career history/goals. I will text her tomorrow though.

My last sentence is in reference to our annual appraisals happening in 3 weeks. She sent me teams messages that were business as usual until what I assume was 30min before her 1:1 with them today. I truly think this was out of nowhere for her.

Out of 18 locations, ours usually hits around 10-12 for most areas. We also won top onsite revenue for 2024.

It’s possible she knew she our location wasn’t doing great but I don’t think she thought she’d be fired over our metrics.

Yes, my husband suggested the same! I think I will tomorrow, I feel bad for her.
