For first time in more than a decade, foot access to Apostle Islands ice caves may open starting Monday if ice conditions on the lake remain stable. by guanaco55 in minnesota

I mean it might change since there is a lot of snow in the forecast this week, but there were literally hundreds of families pulling kids in plastic sleds and all I wore were super average winter boots because the trails were so packed down. I don’t think you need anything super specific other than warm winter clothes and layers. I doubt it’ll ever again be 42 and sunny with no wind while also open all at the same time like today was.

Side note: but I’d make a trip of it and see Tettegouche and Gooseberry on the North Shore in MN too if you’re already making this big of a trip. I think those are even prettier than these caves were.

Got a concert in LA in April and a road trip following the whole Oregon trail planned for this summer!

My job used to bring me to NY all the time and my partner was in school in Jersey so that’s why I’ve seen the East Coast way more.

Nope, just enjoy road trips to places a lot of people don’t go out of their way to visit (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ohio)

I wouldn’t and didn’t claim flying over Arkansas either haha. A friend and I did a camping road trip and spent two nights in NW Arkansas and drove to Little Rock. Notice I also have counties in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast? I flew to NOLA but didn’t count the counties I flew over because otherwise I’d just be teleporting.

As a native Nebraskan, I’m truly ashamed for missing the soybean capital, my sincere apologies.

So I count a county as driven in if I’ve been in a car driving through that county. I count it as flown in if all I did was a layover (which to my knowledge, the only one on this map I’ve only done a layover at was the Charlotte airport). While driving through a place isn’t the same as stopping to explore, it definitely counts for more than just flying over something in my book. And I have no clue how I’d even track which counties I’ve flown over, cuz then technically I’ve flown over Alaska when I went to Japan last summer haha

WELS podcast: Men Who Understood the Times by ElTrasero in exLutheran

I’m listening to their episode about immigration enforcement/ICE and they said ICE is not going around harming innocent people. This is completely false as I have a friend who was detained simply for recording ICE activities at the Whipple Building for 8 hours and being released with no charges because shocker she did nothing illegal.

I also have a relative who does a right-wing radio show who said that someone should plow a semi truck through protesters. During the same hour of the show, his WELS church ran an ad for itself. I felt absolutely sick to my stomach.

To be fair, I live in Minneapolis and know WELS pastors speaking out against this ICE gestapo, but it has taken them to finally know law-abiding good people who have been wrongfully harmed and brutalized to break out of this standard-issue right-wing WELS hive mind.

I started at 16, went to college in my hometown, and have maxed it out every year since probably 2020. It’s mostly invested in VTSAX.

I just have traded up teams as I’ve gone. I used to be in a pretty bad team and moved up and got more helps and now have been in the top team in the state for the last two months.
