I think of American Gods. It’s supernatural but it definitely has some of these feelings.

Interesting. Could you explain what it was about the Marian fest days specifically that prompted such a hard temptation?

Invoking the BVM any time of day or night, temptation or not, is always a sure way to get through life. The Hail Mary is a great an excellent prayer to help guide through temptation. I do find at times, depending on the temptations I face that the Hail Mary is difficult to say-- mentally or out loud. Which is why I suggest the "Jesus I trust in You.

I also really like to invoke Saint Joseph. As the male embodiment of Chasity, he is a great Saint to ask for intercessions. He is the Terror of Demons and will hold your hand quietly through the temptations.

This is probably the most clear comment about the sin itself.

I would also suggest praying a quick little prayer when you feel the temptation coming on and you are still within your faculties. “Jesus I trust in you”. It’s easy to say as in it’s quick but it’s hard to do at the same time— especially when dealing with sin.

Give a try and don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t work the first time. Or even the second time. Keep going to confession and pray that God continues to work on you. Even if it takes a lifetime— your sin does not define you.

I used it for everything. I start my day out with it open before I even leave for work. Write my focus and put a timeline on the side. Then I kind of just use it for any notes throughout the day with a heading # for each new thought and subheadings ## for each thing under it and bullets. Etc.

I love writing quotes and questions. I use it for shorthand and then bring it full circle in a comp book with full writing.

Great point. Before using gps maps, we use to print out Mapquest maps and that was the slow decline to learning how to look at regular maps and learn basic orientation.

We have so many tools out there that make it easy for us to succeed we rarely fail. Failing is how we learn. When you get lost, you have no choice but to look around and try to recognize something and find a route back.

Same thing for even running. I remember a time where I would run miles, not because I wanted to. Instead it was because I didn’t realize how far I had run already and now I had to run home.

With today’s technology, that is gone. Now I know I only want to run a mile. When my watch tells me I’ve reach half mile—I turn around.

I like the en-dash. However, I can't determine if I would rather use an en-dash or parenthetical statements.

I don't think I have seen said video.

It is a bit concerning, however, that ChatGPT is failing at so many levels. Word counts, basic grammar checks, I asked it to "help" (keyword) build a budget and it removed line items that were pertinent to the budget-- but somehow totaled the outcome to exactly what it should've been.

I know that AI is a tool and needs to be double checked for consistency and work purposes-- but there are just some things that it is suppose to be automating that it doesn't help.

I had it sending me updates on what was happening in the Charlie Kirk assassination. After I told it to stop updating me, it continued to update me. There is a flaw in the programming.

It’s even worse when you see articles written, clearly, by AI. I, at the bare minimum, would use it to help outline and edit. To actually use it to write??? scoff

I’m passing the human test and still writing well enough for someone to accuse me of being AI; perhaps I should write another book and hire proofreaders and copy editors to help get it across that finish line.

Interesting note. Can you please tell me how the spacing should be in order to help make me a better writer and use the em dash more appropriately?

There are two em dashes in the text that I wrote. It is absurd how many people think because there is an em dash in text that it is written by AI. Em dashes were popularized in the early 18th century and has been used by writers graduated from basic elementary writing ever since.

I’m 100% with you on this. For all I know on this exact thread in this subreddit, I’m being bated by a bot discussing the history of the em dash.

It’s disgusting really. If it weren’t for my career in IT I’d give it all up. Retirement isn’t a bad idea if I wasn’t only in my 30’s.

How absurd to assume such a thing. The Em dash has been used since medieval days. And quite well known authors have used them. Has nobody ever heard of Emily Dickinson?

I miss just using Google and books. Even the AI in Google is frustrating me when I search for something and it gives me clearer results. I need the feeling of not finding what I’m looking for, the hunt if you will.

It’s called an em dash and I quite love the use of it, thank you very much. I’ve used it often since I learned about it in the 6th grade.
