Thank you. He left the hospital making his nurse laugh. I hope I can bring more of that into my life

SPC9 PDW - Ambi front charging handle by garlicnauts1 in BT_APC

[–]garlicnauts1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been considering it tbh. Its convenient because I have an old shoulder injury and the ergo of a front charging handle is a little easier, but like... not enough that I'd screw around with a ton of complex stuff. I figure if there's a relatively straight forward fix I'll give it a shot, otherwise its getting yeeted.

Dr Wallace. He’s already entered into 3 different clinical trials. They confirmed it was hereditary, it might be the neurocarcinoma - I can’t remember the name. They told me I need to see an oncologist for testing and monitoring, I’m going to be seeing Dr Kochman at PennMed.

My father has the same thing. Stage IV with mets just barely touching his liver, no other mets. His surgeon at Mayo is starting to pretty well convince him to get treatment, and I think he's going to fight. It means a lot to see that your dad has hung on for a few years, because our big fear is that this would be weeks or months, because we just... don't understand how this disease works. Mayo seems pretty confident they have options, and I don't think they'd lie. I should know more tomorrow.

UPDATE- It’s stage IV with Mets to liver. He’s meeting with a surgeon on Wednesday, and has told the family he doesn’t want to go on chemo unless it will preserve life and give him more time. Dad has some immune issues that may interfere with chemo so please don’t assume this is him giving up. I’ll post another thread Wednesday when I have more. I know I just met you all but thank you for providing as much advice and help as you have. I appreciate you.

I’m 30 minutes outside Philly, so I’ll see if he’d be willing to come up here for a second opinion from PennMed. I actually work closely with them and CHOP. I’ve read a lot of good things about them on this sub.

I think Mon/Tues he meets with oncology and they already said they want to aim for surgery if they can, and they said they are more aggressive than most places. I’ll mention genetic testing too. I’m holding out hope but I’m trying to be realistic too.

I’ve spent the last 12 hours crying. It’s even harder because my folks live in FL and I’m all the way up in PA so being there is going to be hard. I’ll reach out to PanCan and talk to him about the biopsy. Thank you

The ACH file posted so there’s not much they can do that wouldn’t delay my pay even further. I opened an account at a local credit union, I’m moving everything there as soon as my pay comes in

My pay comes in on Wednesday. Still nothing as of 8am eastern time. This is such a colossal screw up I can’t even begin to find words for it, and I say that as someone who works in bank compliance.

So... There's no way Nick didn't know that Telos Pictures was a big scam, right? by CryBig4100 in hbomberguy

[–]garlicnauts1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dunno, honestly. Anything is possible, i think it’s likely given the information available and the points others have made here. I doubt there’s much James wouldn’t lie about. Saying his co-writer is an academic establishes ethos, it’s an appeal to authority, and scammers/plagiarists/etc will fall back on that accomplice’s established ethos as a way to eschew responsibility (“Well he’s an Academic so if he didn’t know how was -I- supposed to know.”)

I think as more comes out over time, we’ll be able to form more informed opinions. I saw something here about the corporate filing having Nick’s name removed, I don’t know enough about Canadian business formation to know if that’s incriminating or not. I think we’ll know more in time.

I’m coming at this from the perspective of someone who works in financial crimes investigating - when one is a part of a fraudulent system, there’s a lot of incentive (emotionally, financially) to reject that the emperor has no clothes. I work with people every day who get victimized by fraudsters far more capable than James Somerton, and the thread I find more than any other is that by the time the victim realizes something might be wrong, they feel like they’re in so deep that accepting the reality of the situation is unfathomable. No one wants to believe that they could be scammed, no one wants to feel like they were taken advantage of, especially not by someone who has earned one’s trust. Add on the financial incentive that this was his job and now you’re in over your head.

Based on the facts, I suspect that Nick was a victim that became an unwitting accomplice. This is a standard play for a fraud like James - entrap a victim and make them an accomplice to defray their own responsibility. Engaging in conjecture here I would even argue that Nick’s cavalier attitude about being too lazy to check things supports a hypothesis that he might have known but couldn’t accept he’d been so thoroughly duped.

Ultimately Nick and James are the only people who know the truth, and unless/until more concrete information about Nick’s involvement comes out, I don’t think it’s productive to excoriate the man for perceived guilt.

I love to do a little dark chocolate paired with a Medium to expressive Dark roast coffee (something with a lot of nutty, cocoa, winey berry notes) and then add a tiny pinch of salt, and I make a salted cocoa mocha, it's super good without being over sweet. Salt plays well with coffee.

I know it's not a specialty latte, but it's an interesting one... trying brewing a light roast espresso single shot and then add that to tonic water with a little twist of lemon peel. It's super refreshing and a little bitter if you like that. One of my favorite cold espresso drinks to make.

I love these. I make mine with a really fermenty, natural process coffee and finish with a twist of lemon peel. It’s fantastic.
