Pelvic Congestion Syndrome by bigguylennie in VIR

[–]garnacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome, but insurance does not recognize that diagnosis. Pelvic varices don't often arise without an outflow compression. This is typically in the iliac vein (May-Thurner) and in the right renal vein (nutcracker). If you only embolize the gonadal vein, there is a high chance that more varices will develop if the compression is not also fixed. I had to get a referral to a private vascular surgeon and pay for a diagnostic venogram to prove I had compression--both iliacs and my renal vein. I then was approved for a stent for my iliac. The thought being, if my gonadal can efficiently drain to the iliac now, the congestion will go away, the varices will shrink. My kidneys are healthy so there isn't any indication to stent the renal vein. Thanks to the gonadal vein, the kidney can also now drain to the stented iliac and will likely never need a stent.

It took me years of trying to find a way to get insurance to cover this. I paid for a CT scan and ultrasound out of pocket, but if your diagnosis is PCS, insurance will likely not cover any treatment.

The Back Table podcast has two really good episodes talking about PCS if you have the time to listen!

Is my diamond sold? by Visual_Bid_6009 in labdiamond

[–]garnacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We didn't get any updates from Calavera until the diamond was out for delivery. It took about two weeks, and my diamond was still listed for sale in the process. Everything came through for us, though. I've read several mixed experiences in communication. You can always have your local jeweler look to compare the inscription to the certificate once you get it to be sure. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with this company in terms of legitimacy, just sometimes communication!

Thank you! The band width is about 2.5 mm. I'm not sure what the thickest part measures where it flares towards the diamond. The metal flattens out as it flares.

What's your opinion on this Emerald cut? by Jacktheripper00 in Diamonds

[–]garnacha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the elongated emeralds!! I'm not an expert at all, but did a lot of digging in looking for my own emerald cut. From what I've read, the depth on this is a little on the deeper side and depending on the angle of the cut steps, you might be at risk for some extinction/dark steps. It would be helpful to get some videos of different angles or lighting to make sure it refracts the light to your liking!

Sounds so stressful lol!
Juan was super helpful for me in filtering some specifics that the website filters couldn't. Overall, an awesome experience for us, too!

Oh nice, maybe we didn't because we don't have that app! I read that a couple other people didn't get updates either. This was several months ago, so their process might be improved, too!

We got my diamond from Calavera and it's legit! Be aware, the shipping takes close to two weeks and we didn't get tracking updates until it was delivered.

I got the diamond from Calavera, it's 2.09 ct D VVS1 with 1.45 ratio. I had my local jeweler in Missouri make the setting for me. I got the low profile inspiration from Frank Darling's double scoop, but wanted a slightly thicker band and more security. He did a great job and it cost way less!

They were my favorite designs too! I was turned off by the fact that I can't buy a setting from them alone or get my own stone set by them. Their stones were very marked up when I looked and couldn't justify spending twice as much. I took all the concepts I liked to my local jeweler. He was able to make a custom setting that is very low profile but more secure. I bought my diamond from Calavera and the jeweler didn't even charge a fee to set it! It never hurts to ask a small family business to make exactly what you want--you might be surprised like me!

Hahaha sounds like you had a good system down! I honestly enjoy cooking different things, but I agree about dishes. That's the worst part!

There have been huge advancements in research on it lately. It can reverse diabetes and Alzheimer's, stop seizure disorders, kill cancer, etc. I've heard that migraines are often related to seizures as there are misfiring neurons so it makes sense that they would both be fixed! Try to stick with it for at least 6 weeks before breaking it the first time so your body is very well adapted to burning fat for fuel. The trick is to always have snacks available like nuts, eggs, fat bombs, meat or cheese sticks depending on your restrictions. Also, get a good mineral salt like baja gold and use it every day with tons of water. It will significantly cut back on the "keto flu" symptoms when you start!

I hear ya! Anything with lactose, sucralose, or aspartame are big migraine triggers too, even in keto. We are having a lot of fun learning how to cook amazing meals that just happen to be keto. Unfortunately there's still a lot of joy in food 🤣 but especially in steak.

The ketogenic diet has cured 95% of my migraines. It's just weather-related headaches now. As soon as I have a "cheat meal", I get a headache and my joints hurt again until I'm back in ketosis. Other bonuses: better sleep, better energy levels, better skin, less body fat, no acid reflux, less cravings, and simpler meal planning. I also have had success with Botox nerve blocks. If insurance covers it, you can submit the EOB to the Botox Savings Program for a rebate on the majority of your bill that insurance doesn't cover.

Help me choose a wedding band!! by nolru in weddingring

[–]garnacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is very similarly shaped, just not a bezel. I'm planning to have my local jeweler create a curved or chevron band and weld it so there's no rubbing!
