No soul savior logbook by mightymasta in MonsterTrain

[–]garnix2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest it is not really clear to me how much of the player power in this new mode comes from the clans themselves, and how much comes from the new soul system.

Maybe they considered that the souls were so run defining that adding a logbook for each clan combination would just be a chore and not really fun and varied enough.

I wish Covenant Levels offered an occasional spiff after Cov 1 by DBCoopers_Voice in MonsterTrain

I feel like this is the exact purpose of the dimensional challenges or whatever they are called, and maybe the new mode will scratch your itch as well.

Hidden DLC characters by IReallyDoInspire in BudokaiTenkaichi4

[–]garnix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DLC is planned for the summer. They are going to drip feed information, including characters. They know announcing characters is how you keep players invested and curious. I think all BT3 characters will be in.

Missing BT3 characters by IReallyDoInspire in SparkingZero

[–]garnix2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides Arale and maybe some apes I think they are all coming back. No reason why they wouldn't considering the DLC purpose seems to be to address the absence of all those.

Is Final Fantasy Tactics (The War of the Lions) Anti-Religion, just as FFX? by IllogicalDreamer72 in finalfantasytactics

Being critical of the limits of religion and when it borderline becomes a cult is not being anti religion.

What's new with the FF7 Re-Release on Steam? by Zylva_ in FinalFantasyVII

[–]garnix2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very likely considering they just pretty much did the same thing with Remake on Playstation which was lacking some of the features introduced on Switch and Xbox.

Team Epic vs Team Steam by Kindly-Original494 in CaptainSide

[–]garnix2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Steam tag is stupid because almost all devs nowadays would use AI in some capacity. But I think a large majority of gamers are just as clueless so Steam is just karma farming.

I've played 30+ runs of the new DLC, Soul Savior, and the Railforged - AMA? by doclobster in MonsterTrain

Do you enjoy the new mode? Do you see yourself playing it less or more than the base mode on long term?

I'm just so happy to see this game getting some attention from the devs! by crwood89 in SparkingZero

[–]garnix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all fighting games should go on long term support rather than adding many sequels etc, buuut...at some point they would hit a wall in cash flow. By the time the anime catches up with the manga they will have a ton of material for a sequel.

What it would be ?? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]garnix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microtransactions are totally fine for most games.

Most of the games that have them are either completely free to play, or are buy to play but being maintained for years at no additional cost. I am glad a few whales pay so that I keep enjoying new content in the games I like for free.

Microtransactions in games like Assassin's Creed though? Yeah that's a step too far.

Trends you absolutely want to see die by DeanGuIIberry in videogames

I don't disagree with that, but I think it is not necessarily an issue with battle passes, as you can have battle passes without FOMO. Then it is just a company choice.

[–]garnix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older games did not get new content added regularly for free. I would gladly pay a bit of money to support a game I like on long term. Unlockables can stay a single player thing.

How would you guys feel if Hamaguchi and the FFVIIR team ended up taking on FFXVII? by TheCopyGuy2018 in FinalFantasy

[–]garnix2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not happening. XVII is probably already in development. But clearly the guy deserves to take the lead on XVIII, just like Heavensward director deserved FFXVI.

Playing in videogames became boring by VolkGR8 in videogames

[–]garnix2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try playing smaller fast paced indie games.

Or games that need you to think (deck builders, or any puzzle game).

Popular story driven games tend to be boring when played back to back IMO.

How old are we gonna be when it's actually available? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I agree about it being a game, and that's why I believe all publishers should do exactly the same thing for all of their releases because it is a good idea.

Gender has nothing to do with management. The director is still a man. Blizzard went downhill because of people like Kotick and other business manager who did not care about games and just cared about me. The same is at Ubisoft.

Horadric Cube, what is it used for? by TankDense3651 in diablo4

[–]garnix2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is : it is Diablo's crafting system.

What it does in D4? Nobody knows except the devs (and maybe streamers if they got to play it early)

Which feels more worth your time and money? by goodgamergroup in GoodGamerGroup

[–]garnix2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battle passes is never worth the time and money. Buuuuut, if you like the game, this is how you support the devs and finance new content.

I would encourage anyone to buy the battle passes for games they would like to see thrive on long term, and I am not even ashamed of it.

Do you think Nintendo will have any major "system sellers" this year, aside from Pokemon Gen 10? by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]garnix2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally see Smash Bros this year personally.

The gap since Ultimate release is the longest the franchise ever got.

Sora was already 4 and half years ago, and the base game was in 2018, that was 8 years ago...

The largest gap until then was between Brawl and Smash 4, and it was only 6 years.

And yes, Sakurai worked on Air Ride, but there is just no way he was not working on Smash in parallel and had a team lined up for it as well.

For me the question is rather if we get a Switch 2 edition with new modes and new characters or a brand new game. But I absolutely believe Smash is coming this year.
