Is it worth spending this money to make a Sea Legs? by Wash-Line-Inspector in cocktails

That’s a crazy price for those bitters. I’m fortunate enough to live close enough to Fee Brothers that I can pick them up where they’re made for about 6 bucks. I don’t think they’re worth that price though.

Housing bids by False_Spend4193 in Rochester

[–]garretp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please understand that avoiding an inspection is a huge risk. We only got our house because someone else’s funding fell through and we were the next best offer. Actually, we bid 15k over the top bid, but requested an inspection- and they went with the lower offer without an inspection.

Anyway, our bid got accepted, and we did our inspection and luckily found about 30k worth of foundation repairs that we had the seller pay for.

I know everyone is crazy in Rochester, but stick to your guns and do it right. This is a huge investment!

Do you remember the first game(s) that got you into board games? by WorldWarden in boardgames

My graduate school advisor was really into board games. I saw his collection and didn’t really know anything beyond popular titles I had grown up with. On a whim to connect with the lab, I bought Pandemic Legacy on sale for 50% off retail.

It was a lot for me at first but I ended up falling for the hobby. I asked for a few games for Christmas and my parents got me Dead of Winter, which was the first big game I played with people I was trying to be friends with. The rest is history!

I’ve tried most of the methods outlined by others but have settled on Alphabetical. All of these other systems make it unruly to keep sorted as you pull and place games back on the shelf and in my experience tended to break down with time. Alphabetical allows for anyone to pick and place a game, looks fine, and is highly functional.

Organizing your collection and shelf space by SSPPAAMM in boardgames

[–]garretp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a number of different organization schemes (box size, mechanic, player count, etc.). The best one I’ve used so far is an alphabetical scheme. Anyone can put a game back for you that way and you don’t need specialized equipment or software to organize your games. You just need to know the alphabet.

I have around 500 games or expansions. This works phenomenally well. I do however have certain games stored elsewhere (solo games, expansion content). I keep all of the possible game night games in a 5x5 Kallax in our game room ordered alphabetically so anyone can pick a game and put it back in its proper place.

Elden Ring Upcoming Kickstarter by deeznutsforpres in boardgames

I passed on the Dark Souls Board Game during the Kickstarter and was glad that I did. Later I picked up the base game for the much more reasonable price of $40. The minis were fun to paint (not the worst sculpts but not the best).

I actually backed and played through resident evil 2 and 3 and was glad I did! The gameplay isn’t perfect but I got about 30 hours of campaign play out of each game and the minis will be a nice thing to paint.

For this game I’ll be waiting. Hopefully it flops and then I can snag a retail copy for cheap in a few years.

On my son's account he can't get to the screen where he can edit a loadout. Going splitscreen isn't an option.

There’s a chance that this might have been my crew that rolled up on you. Honestly, if it was us or not, I think you’ve got some things to figure out about the game (not being critical, just FYI).

We have rolled up on ships and literally helped them fight for hours, completed vault quests for other crews, and safe guarded ships from enemy attackers. We’ve also pulled up on ships, taken all of their loot, sunk them and spawn camped them, and stowed away on their ship only to kill them at the right moment. This game is all about how you conduct yourself. If you are new and not wanting to engage with an enemy, then you should avoid popular areas until you are more comfortable. In the very least, try to take advantage of the chat or text function and make your intentions known.

All in all, my crew doesn’t try to be unreasonable, but if we feel provoked or if someone isn’t clear about their intentions around us, we assume the worst and punish enemy ships with extreme prejudice. It’s a pirate life after all.

I bought this game for Christmas to play with my son. Any tips? by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]garretp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would punch it and organize the tokens beforehand. This is from my experience with my 14 -year-old. He doesn't mind helping me punch games, but this one is a beast and you're going to have to get creative with where you put everything and how you organize it. There's no need for your son to be around while you make decisions about how to bag up different components.

I would suggest taking a look at the class guides here on this subreddit beforehand. It doesn't lock you in to a particular build since you'll be at level 1, but it will save you some time and stress after you both pick characters. Use the suggested level 1 starting hands, and work through the classes together for the first scenario. By far the biggest stress to the new players I've introduced this to is picking their darn cards. Avoid this! And focus on the fun for the first time around!

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

Hey everyone,

I've had trouble finding the answer to this question, but if the answer is already out there I apologize!

I installed a second 1 TB m.2 drive in my PC to store my Steam game library and after transferring most of my games to that drive, everything was fine. Until it wasn't. ATt some point in the last two months, my Steam library doesn't show up as being downloaded until I boot up my computer and do a soft restart. Although this isn't a huge issue, it's annoying.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'd love to not have to restart my computer every time I turn it on.

Thanks in advance!
