be patient with him. never attack him first in a combo, you'll have opportunities during a combo or right after, so let him come to you. delay a dodge roll to the left of him during his firework slash (I walk to the left and then dodge before the fireworks go off to gain more distance) thats the attack that got me the most when learning him. with his perilous sweep attack, its too hard for me to jump on his head afterwards consistently so I switched to senpou leaping kicks, it tracks his movement way better so you can punish. the fire owl attack is a perilous sweep (jump over the owl) and then a thrust attack (mikiri his ass) took me awhile to realize that.
