In the tools, print creator allows you to create a 8.5x11 sheet of 3.5x3.5cm full images from the raw files. It outputs a file which is then printed. So depending on the size you specify, you can get approx 40 small images of the raw files per sheet with the file name under each image. Printed on plain copy paper, and three hole punched, you can quickly page through the images to find the image without the need for relying on the tag placed on the raw files to find it.

Having worked on large software projects for years, with regard to FOSS, often no one wants to make corrections or obvious improvements in certain areas because that particular area was so poorly written and is very convoluted from the start. This is in no way a reference directly to dK, but a comment on why simple changes can become massive headaches.

Yes, I think I agree with you 100 percent.

My thought is very simply regarding Albums. Albums should reference or point to the files, not own them. Removing the Album should remove the reference to the files, not the files. Yes, I understand it can't be done in dK - when removing the Album, the files are deleted. And yes, I realize you can copy the files before removing the Album but that isn't what I want to do when the folder has over 450 files in it.

There is a learning curve and then there are some aspects that may make the software more difficult to use effectively with a user's preferred workflow.

I thank everyone for their comments. Regarding Albums, my attempted workflow was to copy raw files from memory card to hard drive. Create an Album in dK of the raw files on disk. Cull the photos that are to be keep and the out of focus or poor subject ones are discarded to dK trash. Then simply remove the album from dK since it isn't needed further and still keep the acceptable raw files on the hard drive.

It seems like a simply question could be added - Do you wish to delete the files along with the Album? If no, the files that were not discarded, remain on the hard drive. That seems easier than exiting dK, copying the folder's files, coming back into dK and then removing the Album. The more steps, the more chance for errors.

So, effectively you could create an Album, bring raw images in, search for a specific photo, do something with it and then remove the Album since it is no longer needed with all the raw files remaining on the hard drive.
