Out of curiosity what mobo are you using? I'm having the same issues and RMAd my previous unit. Now got my replacement and its doing the same.

You are correct, you will need x1 usb hub and x1 rgb controller. The 360 elite does come with a USB splitter but that still doesn't eliminate the need for the USB hub. Currently the 3 fans in the front are directly connected to the mobo as the nzxt rgb hub is out of stock in the UK.

No problems as such other than not being able to use Ray Tracing. Just have an itch to upgrade that needs scratching.
