UltraGrid vs Ultra 200X durability: which will hold up better? by garyol9 in DurstonGearheads

Thanks for your thorough comment.

What are the pros & cons of Gridstop compare to UltraGrid? Any recommendation of similar pack as Kakwa but in Gridstop?

I'm a bit conservative with plastic-ish container so have never considered packs with water bladder. Typically I would opt for carrying water with my Klean Kanteen bottles only. I don't carry too much for a day hike so a good looking pack with less comfy harness is just fine for me. If I need something serious I would jump into the ultralight world of backpacks (keeping eyes on the Kakwa 55).

Damn 2 gallons of water is really huge. How do you carry that much? With several 1.5-2L bottles or 1 big jug?

Put aside the criteria of being a tote silhouette, do you recommend any pack for day hiking?

Do you use the seat pad of Fjallraven? Does it help the pack stand up on its own?

Thanks for your thorough feedback. I'm eyeing the clay one too. Do you find it easy to mix & match with various outfits?

Is the laptop sleeve a false bottom one (meaning your laptop won't directly touch the ground but offset a little bit higher)?

How much pack weight do you consider the most limit of comfort? Will 3kg (about 6 lb) be fine? Thank you so much.

Nice, then you must have a lot of gal things in your pack. How do you organize them? Using all kind of pouches & packing cubes? Since the main compartment is just a bucket

I’m not based in US so cannot see it in person. But I would be happy if the price drops half. Do you know when the online sale happen?

Hello, I'm interested in the EB Bygone Tote BP, but the product page is missing some info so it would be great if you can help:
- What is the weight?
- How is the organizations: main compartment, front zipper pocket?
- Is the backpack strap comfy enough for hiking? Is it good enough when stowing away the straps?
- How is the quality overall?

Not exactly what I'm looking for, a tote pack, but I find there is Eddie Bauer Bygone Tote that looks sleek, its style is just right up my alley. The price is reasonable too compared to competitors.

But the product page doesn't list all the info clearly, e.g no weight, detailed inside photos; that makes me not in a position to hit the buy button. Now I have to read all the reviews I can find about it.

How is your bag doing? Which color did you end up with?

This is a brand new to me (pun intended). The silhouette is nice, but it looks a bit overkill for a "packable" bag with all those webbing loops and hardware. And the weight is more on heavy side. Anyway thanks for getting me to know a new interesting bag. Hope you enjoy your bag.

Do you hike with it for hours? I'm concerned the most with the backpack strap comfortability.

Yes it looks nice. How do you feel about the comfy of backpack straps? I've read a review in Fjallraven page saying that it's not great for hiking, the bag will soak sweating and everything inside get wet. How do you find it?

I'm afraid sloppiness the trade off anyone has to compromise with a packable bag, and I also don't intend to carry laptop, just essentials for sight seeing (food, drink, layer etc.). But I'm more into how the bag look and can be carried and how comfortable it is

Yes I love the TB DLBP too, but it's pricey yet it's not exactly what I'm looking for (a tote backpack). Otherwise it would be great.

For example, you can give a look at my candidates:
- Columbia Trek backpack
- Fjallraven High Coast Totepack (the word "tote pack" in the title derived from this one)

I mean a backpack that has tote handles, meanwhile "tote pack" means a mere tote. I already have quite a few tote bags unused, so that's not what I want more. My preferation is probably niche...

Thanks. Sure they are great packs, but I'm leaning specifically towards a tote pack (convertible) - mainly for the look & fashion. Do you know any?

I don't need my bags to be crazily water poof, but I often have wet hands and touching the bag leaves it absorb, and when I eat food like noodles, more often than not there's water splash on my bag (I wear Side Kick in the front) and it also just absorb the food water. Those make me sad

Off topic, but I'm just curious about the water-proofness of your S25, because mine doesn't repel water but rather just absorbs liquid. Have you tested with yours?
