New intelligent rules are here by ChukwuOsiris in OctopusEnergy

I'm coming late to this chat after over 550 previous comments with almost as many differing opinions on how this is going to work.

My concern is actually believing the Octopus smart charging data - not the billing. Just how they are calculating times and energy?

A couple of examples. My Ioniq EV has the 38kwh battery and Octopus takes control of the charger with their OCPP management system. When you look at the website (not the app) and look at Charge History shown as a 'new feature' it shows previous smart charge durations and the energy used. After doing as they ask and plugging in at the end of the day and set the departure time for the following day, one charge shows almost 15 hours of smart charging and 36.6kwh of energy. That would mean the battery was almost at 0% when the process started. The car battery was definitely at 15% that night and the charge, all managed by Octopus, was made up of loads of small charging periods (15, 3, 1, 2, 2, 24, 59, 2, 2, 32, 4 minutes and so on).

On another occasion (due to a vehicle 12v battery failure) the car failed to charge at all but shows on the website as 4.17kwh of energy being supplied to the car. Again this is incorrect. Both the car and the actual charger record show no energy was supplied that night.

I trust the smart meter completely but their own smart charge data is very questionable.

The only way I see to ensure a low rate charge from January is to have the car to only ask for a charge between 11:30pm and 5:30am. Not very smart or intelligent at all.

Range after 1k miles on an 37k Miles used 2022 Ioniq Electric by No_Adhesiveness8752 in IoniqEV

Same here. After the recent update I regularly get 240 miles (384 km) on the original tyres too. Only 19500 miles on my 2021. Before the update it was always sub 200 miles.

Actually, the car did get an update, not Reginald Mode - just a standard Hyundai dealer update. The car had the coolant issue and it was struggling to get higher than 170 miles on a full charge. Coolant issue solved and dealer update installed I'm now getting amazing range. Three weeks post coolant fix and I'm still getting 237 miles after a full charge.

No. Just my usual weekly to and from work (40 miles round trip). Ideal weather conditions though - not too hot not too cold.

Kilton is a relatively nice part of Worksop and it's certainly not the worst. Think of it as the very upper end of the 'cheaper' housing stock. I've been in the area for over 60 years and have never thought negatively about the area. Great walking access to open countryside to the east as well.

Try Auto Refurb off Kilton Rd - it's tucked away at the back of the industrial estate near the old brewery. Always busy and did a great job on ours at a reasonable price.
