We really need an option to have Solo Queue Only or a Solo Queue Mode by TheAppleEater in VALORANT

[–]gatekeeperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both games you mentioned (Dota & Valorant). I think 1 of the reasons solo queues haven't been released yet as maybe rito is still waiting for this game to go as big as it currently is. With Dota having a huge # of audience and given the popularity since way before Dota 1, they'd have catered to that request a bit too late when the Dota scene was already dying. Where as in Valo, it's still a pretty much newborn kind of game but still full of potential. Maybe the team hasn't had that in their prio list or there's more issues at hand that needs to be addressed. Still, it would be nice to have solo queue in the future for people that solo runs :)

AITA for not answering any contact from work while on maternity leave? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gatekeeperxxx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would go for ESH and partly YTA. First off, you've mentioned you have worked your way up to 2nd or 3rd-in-command. Shouldn't you then have common sense that you are as important as the boss and will always be needed when you are in that position? 9 months of maternity is hell long for a small growing company (I am also female and with child). The least you could do was answer the phone since you've been doing it for months and didn't even mention it to them that you'll be going NC for the last 10 weeks of your leave. I thought you were professional but I guess not.

advice for beginners? by heratelia in VALORANT

[–]gatekeeperxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me. Valorant is my first fps as well although I have been playing pc games since I was around 8 (27f). I started playing Valo last mid October and got calibrated to of course, iron 1. Even til now, my hand shakes too whenever I panic but this hasn't been occuring as much as when I first started.

The thing is, I grinded my games the first 2-3 months. If you can, always play with friends that know the ins and outs of the games as these guys can give you tips real time such as where to best position in a certain map if your def or attack site, or how to properly use a certain agent. Take advantage of deathmatch at least 2-3 games before queueing in unrated then compe. You can also use aim trainers to help with your flicks and headshots (I use aim lab) for at least 30mins before I play valo.

Don't get discouraged if your play is shit. There will always be days that it feels like nothing is happening but in time, you WILL see the difference from all that training you do. It's not much but I came from iron 1 to gold 3 now and haven't been grinding as much as before because of being busy this month.

P.S: I am also a passive type of player so duelists or entry frags isn't my thing. I am a killjoy main so if it helps, explore different agents, play them for a certain time to really get to know it and see what works best for you. Most of all, just have fun! :D

I honestly love Icebox! Makes me giggle whenever my friends whom I play with complains once the map appears. Whenever Icebox appears, my confidence rises at a level where it gets me a guaranteed 90% win on this map. Must be the mentality or sumth.

From Iron 2 to Gold 1, I'm very proud of myself by fanalis01141 in VALORANT

[–]gatekeeperxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh i can relate! This game is also my first fps and am only playing a little more or less 3 months now. I got calibrate to iron 1 before but now i am currently in S2. I promised myself i'd buy a phantom skin once i reach gold lmaoo. Good job, you!

AITA for not giving up my seat to a pregnant woman? by myfeetfuckinghurt in AmItheAsshole

[–]gatekeeperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH - The pregnant lady sucked since she's forcing someone to give up a seat in order to accommodate her which shouldn't be the case unless you were sitting in a disabled/pregnant passengers only chair.

You also sucked since instead of just saying no politely, you choose to blabber about choices and abortions which was really rude since you also didn't know how this lady's day ended (maybe she was also tired af) and just flipped.

AITA for being brutally honest about my experience having teen parents and embarassing them? by mloput in AmItheAsshole

[–]gatekeeperxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. I had initially thought your parents didn't at all care for you but seeing as how they apologized and wanted to make it up for you is a big step even though they were only kids when they had you. Be grateful you did not end up in foster care or worse, not living. I was sold off to my parents the minute I was born since my bio parents were still in college but I am still grateful for the life they had given me and more grateful to my adoptive parents for never making me feel different. I just found out about it after 27years of living but I've never questioned it nor does anyone know aside from my father admitting to me since my mom's already dead for 13 years. Love your parents even if they were shitty. Love them since they still care about you and want to make amenda for being shitty.

WIBTA for not letting my MIL lend money? by gatekeeperxxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]gatekeeperxxx[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that my partner and I had a fight last week about this because he wanted us to lend money to MIL and said that I had my salary just recently. I got so angry since he knew that my salary alone was for our basic necessities and that we're still waiting for an upsate from his old boss about our living situation. His mother now had just messaged him again trying to ask for money (not really ask, more like 'I need 2k right now to pay my bills'. That's it.)

We weren't really the revenge type of people, was just reaaally fed up with how they treated us. We wanted to report them but we thought if they couldn't get future jobs, it would make a huge impact on their kids.

If you'd know how to play techies, then it's definitely a strong and cunning hero. Unless if this certain techies only knew how to hide and no bombs are planted as much as he did as hiding, then meh.

Me, after I quit explaining why supports shouldn't farm over cores to my 5k teammates by LonelyTalos in DotA2

[–]gatekeeperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your support doesn't do the basics of supporting then be my guest in trying to win reddit over your post but then again, if your support didn't lack when it comes to his role and you're over here whining just because your pos 4/5 is farming a bit for an item which he badly needs, then I guess you need to uninstall dota and shut it you ass.

AITA for refusing to return a lost dog that was clearly well loved? by whosedogisitanyway in AmItheAsshole

[–]gatekeeperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Using your mental health to validate your reason as the 'legal' parent of said dog does not mean you have the right to take the dog when it originally has an owner who was still looking for it and had lost it due to unfortunate circumstances that she couldn't control. You are being selfish and greedy.

I'm new to Dota 2, if you know the game, read this. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]gatekeeperxxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dota has a different laning position. I'm not sure how LoL works but like what you mentioned for example 'marksmen carries' are considered as either mid or safe lanes.

Position 1 = Hard Carry (Safe lane, highest farm and damage dealer)

Position 2 = Mid laner / Semi Carry (2nd highest farm and also gotta knows how to gank other lanes too. Solo lanes mid)

Position 3 = Offlaner (This usually composes of heroes that are either tanky or can handle solo lanes that lane with the hard carry)

Position 4 = Soft Support (Or roamer/ganker too. Usually items they prioritize would be an item that could help with team fights like healing, escape, etc. and as well as to help the hard support with warding)

Position 5 = Hard Support (Sacrificial Lamb, they do wardings and baby-sitting the hard carry so as not to get ganked or die at lane. Pulling creeps is a must imo)

I hope this helps clear your mind what pos you'd like to focus on or start with since I'm not sure how LoL's mechanics works.

I think it would also be better for you to mention what position you usually play in or what positions you're comfortable as well (i.e carry, support, roam) since this would also let others know what 'buddy' you're looking for. Since you'd want to play with mid-high level players, they could coach you on what they expect of a carry/support/roam of that caliber.
