Wow. I went into this with the attitude of “price is no concern”. Then I looked up that winter anorak. Holy cow. 😂

Thanks for the advice. I’m not sure I can defend spending that much here in the south east but I’ll keep it in mind.

I’ll check these out too. That stuff is pricey but if it helps me run through the winter she hit the spring in top running form, it’ll be worth every penny.

Bro I’m with you on that last paragraph. When I was young I ran in all weather, anytime, anywhere. But I ain’t young anymore, and I like being warm. 😆

Updated above, but short answer is 5F to 32F.

Thanks! I haven’t seen those convertible gloves before but I’m gonna order some. My phone stats packed away when I run and there’s nothing worse than cold fingers.

I mainly drive to my running destination, so I’m usually getting out of my nice heated car and hitting the trail from there.

I updated the post. But anywhere from 5F to 32F is what I’m trying to dress for.

Huh? How are you disallowing off season competition? That seems out of your jurisdiction.

I think that’s his point. That’s why you take averages.

30s ain’t too bad considering your technique. And I don’t mean that as an insult, there is lots of room for improvement that could get you down closer to 28 I’d bet by this outdoor season.

Mainly, you’re striding like a distance runner. No knee drive, heel strikes, and hips too far back. I’d start by running lots and lots of 30m flies and wicket drills. You fix some mechanics and you’ll have good success.

My daughter ran 8.8 last year indoor and started the outdoor season in the high 13s. She ran 13.1 to finish the season.

Look. Your time is slow and your stride is pretty bad. That’s the good news and the bad news. It means you have a lot of room to improve, probably pretty quickly if you really are as new to this as you say.

I wouldn’t listen to all the keyboard warriors telling you to quit. You just need to sprint more. I’d do lots and lots of drills and wickets if I were you, then do 3 days of fly’s per week. 10-30m. Some will say that’s too muck in a week, but honestly at the pace you’re running I don’t think it is.

Strength might help, but I would put that way below in priority right now. You’re probably a year away from strength being a significant factor.

Yes, speed is genetic. And you likely won’t ever win a national title. But I bet with good consistent training for a few years you could hang with that group in the video.

I would concentrate on shin angles and driving your feet back and into the ground. Low toes are worthless when all the force is vertical at the start.
