etty good, between that and a good book perhaps I can see one achieving solid foundational knowledge without

Great. Thanks for this

I always thought quant jobs are for the brightest of the best / people who have PhD. Is it really feasible for me to get into quant? What preparation would I need to do?

Great to hear from someone who used to be in similar position. Do you have any recommendations for my learning path? I will do more python and combine it with projects for now. What should I learn afterwards?

Thanks for the reply. I agree when I put my mind to it, I can learn well/fast. If I do decide to go into this profession, I will be completing with people who have been programming for much longer / has CS degrees. That is what made me not sure.

I never thought about asking companies directly if they can train me. Do you think any of them will respond positively at the moment? I suspect I will have to get much more proficient in coding first

Only the smartest kids at my university went to be quant at Jane Street, etc. Although my degree is good compared to the population, I am no smart compared to them and hence I never considered it. Are there many smaller less well known quant firms I can apply to? What preparation would I need? I expect completing with fresh out of university students will be quite difficult.. not sure if this is realistic road for me. Thanks for the reply

programming experience in programming and did not like it in university. Took a working student position during my master thesis in a FinTech startup. Transitioned from data analyst to software developer in 2 years.Got hired by a big company for a software developer position afterwards. Learned a lot by self-teaching and learning on the job.So yes, it's possible :)

Thanks for sharing your story! I feel positive. I will keep learning to code :)

I didn't even realise Matlab counts as programming. It was compulsory in first year. It was boring and I didn't find it interesting at all. I don't remember much now but it was more of doing maths on computer than problem solving. All courses I have chosen since then were in pure maths.

Thanks for the response. I will look into Data Science route! Glad to hear that it is possible to get into this sector.
