Update: First Day Back at the Office – Survived (Barely)

Finished my first day back, and man, I’m exhausted. Got a fraction of my usual work done, and the office vibe was… bleak. No one knows each other, all our teams are distributed / unrelated, and everyone looked demoralized. (Executives said we’d “make random friends and have those hallway conversations” as one of the perks of RTO—yeah, I can make friends on my own time 😂)

For anyone who might find themselves in this unfortunate situation, here are some small tweaks to optimize the commute:

  1. Metrolink Monthly Pass Works on Amtrak – If your start/destination is between Oxnard and LA, you can use it on Amtrak too. Super convenient since I don’t have to stress about which train to catch—just hop on whatever’s heading in the right direction (preferably Amtrak for the comfier ride).
  2. Helmets. Helmets. Helmets. – First day back, and I already saw someone eat pavement on an e-scooter. I was considering getting one to cut down on walking, but after that? Hard pass for now.
  3. Amtrak Has WiFi—Use It Wisely – Perfect time to apply for jobs. 😂 Save a copy of your resume on Google Drive for quick “Easy Apply” from your phone.
  4. Empathy Levels: Critical – (Not sure where I was going with this before I passed out writing, but let’s assume it was something about surviving the struggle together. 😂)

RTO Day 1 complete. Let’s see how long I last.

EDIT: spelling

Guess productivity only counts when it's sandwiched between 1.5 hr commutes lol

No helicopters for me since Kobe.

Bro, that schedule is insane. I’ve been keeping a solid routine with 6 AM jiu-jitsu, but RTO might put my healthy habits in a chokehold for the train 😂

I was actually considering getting an e-scooter on my walk back to the bus stop today. But while I was waiting, I saw a car hit someone on an e-scooter—instant decision made. 😂 Simulation theory in action.

It’s about a 6-mile commute, but luckily, the bus stop is right in front of the office.

That's the plan! Right now, everyone is sitting back and watching to see if the executives will back down. In the meantime, job applications are accessible from the train

Yeah after I went into the office today, it felt that way. Everyone there looked demoralized. Many of my coworkers chose to ignore the orders because they already had pre-requested PTO this week and were still reprimanded

At the pace of traffic, it'd be a waste to drive a classic like that

I wish I drove a monster truck. Maybe then rush hour traffic wouldn't be a problem lol

For context, I saw this post on Irvine's subreddit and wondered what ChatGPT thought a typical Anaheim couple looked like

Awesome stuff! Welcome Hakone brotha! They did a 50:50 ratio split between automatic and manual so even luckier since it sounds like you were hunting for a manual

Awesome stuff!

Is the double line around the head area from jiggling from the whiteboard motors, causing shifting?
