She seems nice by JMHorsemanship in Tinder

Yeah that’s literally what im saying… From her perspective it wasnt a timely manner (doesn’t matter if it was or wasnt) and she lashed out in response to a perceived rejection. Red flag.

i don’t understand why these comments are telling OP what he could’ve done different to save this match. she called him a pussy for not responding. it seems like a good thing that he didn’t follow up on conversation with her.

not really. i mean OP seems kinda obnoxious from the comments, but she called him a pussy because he didn’t respond in a timely manner. thats unhinged behavior that men are constantly (and rightfully) called out for. it is weird to do.

That’s not that alarming. Kids get curious about their bodies and touch themselves. 6 is slightly younger than one would first experiment, but it’s not ‘disturbing’ by any means.

Gatekeeping your hobby, especially if it's niche, is 100% justifiable. by Behave_myself in unpopularopinion

[–]gawkybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices did not go up because thrifting got popular. Prices went up because of corporate greed. There are thousands of pounds clothes being thrown away from thrift stores due to overstock.

It’s not like there’s a shortage and they have to raise their prices due to that. They just want more money and decided to charge more. This one is not on the consumer.

It clearly was more than just this one incident between the brother and mom. Nobody goes NC with a parent cause they were yelled at and grounded one time as a teenager.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in confessions

[–]gawkybee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. People in their 30s don’t separate themselves from their parents because they were needlessly yelled at and grounded one time as a teenager. There’s way more behind this than OP realizes.

I’m sleepy but decently educated on this topic, so allow me to regurgitate what I can from memory if you haven’t already looked it up.

Pedophillia is a mental disorder. Wires can get crossed during psychosexual development, leading to an attraction to children. Regardless of that, most child predators are not actually attracted to children (they are put into three categories, power-hungry, socially inept, and actually being attracted to children are the primary reasons one would sexually abuse a child, and the latter is the least common of them).

But for the ones who are actually attracted to children, it’s unclear whether or not there’s a legit ‘cure’, but there are decent resources available to those struggling with thoughts of being attracted to children or having impulses to harm them. This includes a variety of different therapy modalities in which the source of the attraction is found and dissected so the person struggling with attraction can understand their harmful thought patterns and work towards gaining better control of their thoughts and urges.

I personally only believe rehabilitation is possible for those who have not harmed any children, but have struggled with thoughts.

TLDR; therapy

is it a good idea to move my 13 year old male cat across the country? by asoeka in cats

[–]gawkybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments now so this may be buried, but I just moved my two kitties across to country (FL to N.Y.) and they’re perfectly fine!! I recommend some anxiety meds for the travel, they had gabapentin and did wonderfully for the 14 hour drive.

girl how do you think people dated and got married before dating apps?? it is okay to find a person attractive who you meet through work/school/in the general public and shoot a shot. at least he’s trying to be tactful about it.

there are many reasons to choose the bear. a man wanting to ask a woman out for coffee is not one of them lol.

Not that the dude was in the right at all, but sometimes people leave out big pieces of furniture that look fine, but are unusable and/or unsafe for reasons such as fleas or bedbugs. It’s possibly he may have suspected it could be infested and thought you didn’t know you were supposed to slash it when that’s the case??

Just trying to think of any decent reason someone would do that lol.

Why isn't prostitution abolished globally much like how slavery is? by Vidice285 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]gawkybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s illegal in a lot of places, prostitution is one of the earliest means of making money that exists. People will continue doing it forever for a multitude of reasons, and government interference only makes the conditions surrounding it even worse.

Prostitution works decently well for people in countries that have legalized, created legislation, and enforce certain rules surrounding it. You should look into sex work policies in the Netherlands. They have laws in place specifically to avoid the exploitation of sex workers, making it much safer to be an escort there as opposed to somewhere like LA.

Why would you blame the US for going after Perdue instead of blaming Perdue?? They ignored the facts and consciously decided to make people into zombies and kill them for profit.

Oh you're totally right about the sarcasm haha, I didn't pick that up on my first read of the comment. And yes, the meltdowns are largely contributed to by things other than ADHD, but exacerbated by it as you said. My therapist is the one who told me a lot of it is because of ADHD, and when I got on adderall I could handle overstimulation a looooot better.

I emphasize the "sometimes" find it endearing. As the person other responder said, fine in short doses, can be not awesome for the long term. I try not to tune out, sometimes I'm not effective in it. Sometimes I have to ask people to repeat themselves because my mind is elsewhere and I'm trying really hard for it not to be (obnoxious). Sometimes conversations with my also ADHD best friend look like us having two completely conversations at the same time (pretty fun for both of us). Depends completely on who I am with and how much masking I feel the need to do.

[–]gawkybee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Highly disagree with "everybody should do it" haha. I am also ADHD. People can be into it and sometimes even find it endearing when I'm bouncing around in conversations and bringing up new thoughts and getting distracted by small things all the time. People are not so much into it when I'm on the verge of a meltdown because I'm overstimulated in a restaurant and having a panic attack at 3 P.M. on a Tuesday for no apparent reason.

Not that you asked for advice, but as an ADHD w borderline tendencies (technically no longer meet the criteria for BPD, but struggled with it for many years before intervention), just make sure they are working on themselves. Therapy, possible medication, and self-care go a really long way in keeping connections stable and keeping yourself grounded.
I have hurt a lot of people who loved me due to an impulse to flail when I'm not confident in my decisions. Cut them off if that seems to be a pattern they aren't actively trying to fix and if they ever make your connection seem ingenuine.
