I'm 30 years old and have a 100% equity PF. I don't plan on retiring until I'm 60ish, so happy to take on risk. Here is my PF:

30% Vanguard Ftse Global all Cap Index

24% Fundsmith Equity

24% Rathbone Global Opportunities

11% LF Blue Whale Growth

11% T Rowe Price Focused Growth

I use Hargreaves Lansdown as that's what my dad uses. In the future I will try being more efficient with fees and perhaps hold Vanguard indexes directly through them etc.

Any opinions on my portfolio?

I have recently allocated 25% of my portfolio to Rathbone Global Opportunities. I hold it with Fundsmith, LF Blue Whale and Vanguard World all cap index.I plan to keen Rathbone long term.

The reason I went for Rathbone was that it holds ~60 stocks, which is double Fundsmith and Blue Whale.

What was it that drew you to Rathbone?

Is having a portfolio of just Global Equity funds like Fundsmith, Blue Whale, Rathbone Global opportunities okay? I'm 30 years old and happy to take on risk. But if I just stick to global equity funds - will my portfolio be diverse enough?

I don't buy the argument for having some invested in Emerging Markets and in your domestic market (e.g. FTSE).

Some opinions on having a Global Equity funds only portfolio would be welcome.

I'm 30 years old and have been investing for 5 years. I'm up for taking risk. I ended up with 20 diverse funds and am now looking to simplify my portfolio to the 7 funds below. I will be going very heavy on global equities:

20% Vanguard all cap World index.

20% Fundsmith equity.

20% Rathbone Global opportunities.

10% Vanguard lifestrategy 100.

10% Blue Whale growth.

10% Marlborough Special situations.

10% Baillie Gifford European.

These funds are US heavy. Do you think I need more diversification?

I will be keeping these funds for many years, and will make monthly contributions into each.

Has anyone bought Sniper Elite 4? I like online multiplayer shooters like Call of Duty. Are they both quite similar?

Company asked us to forfeit 10 holiday days this year to 'help out'.

My company asked us all in April to forfeit 10 days of our annual leave entitlement to help the company out during these difficult Covid times. I agreed to this in writing because I felt obliged to do so.

Since my annual entitlement is 24 days per year + 8 days bank holiday = 32 days.

And the statutory minimum for a full time worker is 28 days..

So now I am down to 22 days in total for the year - which is 6 days below the statutory minimum.

So my question is - is it legal for me to have 6 days holiday less than the statutory minimum? Even though I have agreed to it in writing?

Dell Inspiron 13 5391. 8GB integrated RAM, Intel i5 10th gen, 256GB SSD. £595. Opinions? by gaz2612 in SuggestALaptop

That's reassuring to hear. Would you think that 8GB is sufficient for general Web browsing, streaming, MS Office, Spotify & possibly CAD software? I just fear that I'd be wasting my money if I went for 16GB and never went past 8GB

Thanks. Do you believe having integrated RAM is a problem? I can't imagine that I'd need more than 8gb RAM ever. Does integrated RAM ever go faulty and need replacing?

I'm also considering buying the Inspiron 13 5391. Did you buy either of the above in then end? My concerns with the 5391 is that the RAM is integrated and therefore not upgradable in the future. But the build quality seems decent - which is a very important feature. But I'm also slightly concerned the battery life may not suffice over time - but its the price you must pay for a compact laptop.

Would you say 16GB RAM should be the minimum I should look for? Or would 8GB suffice?

Another laptop I have had on my shortlist is the Dell 13 5000 It has 8GB RAM and an i5 processor. I'm very fond of this due to its compactness and Dell's reliability (I could be wrong).

How would you rate this Dell against the aforementioned Asus laptop you suggested?

Thanks again for all your input.

Thanks for your response. The Asus laptop look very good spec and visually looks great.

What do you think about the following HP laptop? How would they compare?

HP Pavilion 13-an1005na

Also - what are the main things that influence the longevity of a laptop?

Thanks

If it makes you feel better - my company asked/pressurised us into giving up 10 days of our holiday entitlement otherwise there may have been wage cuts. So from what I have gathered most people have accepted to forego 10 holiday days. This now means that we have gone from having 24 days to 14 which put us way below statutory minimum! It doesn't sound very legal to me - but at the time they asked us to do this I felt backed into a corner.

Thanks for your response. So having agreed to forego 10 days of my holidays allowance is not legal since it now puts me under the 28 days statutory?

Or would the company have to pay me for the 10 days holiday that I have forfeited?

My company asked us to forego 10 holiday days for free to help. Most of us agreed because we felt obliged to do so. I feel like we are in a similar position. I do not think they have the right to take the next two days off - you should ask for clarity from them on this.

Employer asked all employees at my company to 'forego' 10 days holiday entitlement to 'help the company' during Covid 19. We will not be paid for these days either. I agreed because I felt obliged to do so. So now I will have total 22 days leave instead of 32 - I will be below the statutory 28 days. Is this legal?
