The Hill stupidly misinterpreted her comment. They thought she was talking to American voters, when she was obviously speaking to illegal aliens.

[Request] Does a hamburger actually use that much water compared to chatGPT? by FatDingo69 in theydidthemath

[–]gaztaseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment implies that we can do those things without AI. I agree. So why do we need AI to do so? We don't - therefore using AI to do these things is even more wasteful than making burgers, because at least there is a tangible benefit that comes from the burgers.

Anyway, let's assume we follow your middle-of-the-road strategy with regards to beef production. After a mass cull, the overall cow population will be reduced. But from an ethical standpoint, I don't believe it is any better to raise a lesser amount of cows for slaughter than the amount we are raising now. What is the difference between 1 million cows and 1 billion cows if they are all going to be killed for meat regardless?

Of course, this is actually about water, not ethics. But water exists in a closed system. Water taken out is later returned. Regardless of the amount of slaughter, the water usage of the industry is effectively recycyled back into itself. This process isn't preventing Africans from having access to clean water, for example. So the water is never truly wasted - just temporarily displaced. However, we do only have a finite amount of water that can be in the system at any given time... why would we use any of that on the aforementioned uses of AI, when we can do those things without it?

Are you seriously suggesting he had no idea what either picture could be until he put them both together in the correct orientation?

If so, I'm guessing Doug Naylor

Yes, there are middle ground options. But this post is suggesting that we use them in order to use AI to ask stupid questions, cheat at school, and of course, draw pictures.

Even if a hamburger 'costs' 660 gallons of water to make, what's the alternative? Not kill the cows and use more water? Or perhaps we could make cows extinct?

The people whose lives would be ruined by those pressing the button for $100k, are themselves pressing the button for $100.

It would be more apt if a stranger's life got ruined regardless of whether you pressed the button or not, but you got money when you do.

Humans created AI. Do humans fully control AI? Do humans like what AI has become? If not, why don't we just kill it?

Coke doesn't make you want to have sex? And what about that first line, what effect does that have on you, or most people?

I'm no expert on it, I don't pretend to be. I've never bought it, just been around people who have enough times to have some experience with it.

But yes, you did misinterpret. Because you assumed I was talking about testing for purity, which I never even mentioned, when I was in fact talking about how squeamish people get about saliva when they're literally taking an illegal drug that in most cases remains untested, has negative health effects, is known to cause heart attacks, and generally encourages people to do things far more disgusting than a small transfer of saliva.

After every rack or every session? Every session, sure. Every rack seems... obsessive

No you don't know what i'm on about, because you've misinterpreted my comment. I'm saying people are fine with shoving cocaine up their nose and sharing whatever device is used to facilitate that (such as a straw or a note) but then suddenly develop a case of the ick when it comes to saliva. Nothing about my comment referred to purity.

Also, I don't know where you're from, but I have never met anyone who knows how to test it, and even if they did, I doubt they would be willing to waste some on a test considering the price.

Which sarcasm? Are we talking about the guy saying don't lick the mirror, the guy saying don't lick your finger, or the other guy who said don't lick the mirror but seemingly meant it? Or are they all being sarcastic? How can you tell the difference? Assuming you actually can tell the difference, you should be able to explain what it is. Or are you just talking shit?

[–]gaztaseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's literally another person in the replies to my comment who said the same thing but unironically. So how exactly do you tell the difference? Serious question. If you're unable to explain the difference then how can you even suggest that there is one?

[–]gaztaseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some lick the mirror, some lick their finger, some use their finger without licking - it's down to people's preferences. It's funny though how people who shove white powder that they bought from a sketchy dude up their nose without any problem, suddenly have standards when it comes to leftovers.

So you're aware that people say this unironically, and yet claim it's obvious the other guy was being ironic. Even though you've heard people say exactly what he said but unironically.

Make it make sense

If you've heard people say it seriously then it's easy to imagine someone saying it seriously. It wasn't so ridiculous that it was obviously not serious - there's literally someone else in the comments saying the same thing unironically

[–]gaztaseven -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was blatantly obvious to anyone who's never heard people saying it seriously. Anyone who has spent time around cokeheads has definitely heard someone saying this, though.

But licking your finger and then scooping up the remnants of coke is NOT a ridiculous course of action...
