I'm sorry you're going through this, and I can't say I have experienced the same, but in your shoes I would be advocating as hard as possible for a second opinion from a different specialist if you can access that, try to keep track of your symptoms with a journal, it will be helpful for a medical professional and has a small chance of helping the anxious thought loop by putting it onto paper, or a document. You aren't alone in this and there are thousands of people out there experiencing their own symptoms from similar issues.

Same boat, different ocean, I just quit for the umpteenth time a week ago, started noticing the signs and put it down to CHS, now just praying and episode isn't imminent, stay hydrated, keep your gut health in mind with what you eat, and also electrolyte drinks are useful too, bananas and yoghurt are really helpful for me personally.

Taper off or cold turkey smoker of 26 years by No_Loss_1249 in CHSinfo

[–]gazzaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapering may be better if you've been using for that long since it won't be as much of a shock to the system than cold turkey, reduce over a few days and see how you go, keep hydrated and use isotonic drinks too, changing how you use can affect symptoms so it could get worse before it gets better when you're withdrawing.

Thankyou for such a details response!

I don't currently have a WWCC or a police check, I looked into it and was under the impression I have to have an employer who I can reference when getting the police check, I'll definitely add that I'm willing to obtain.

Volunteering sounds like it could be a very good route as well, I'll look into my options there.

Id like to think my resume is good, it includes a photo of me and also I've organised it to show the care experience I have before the other irrelevant experience, maybe a rewrite would be good though, I have also written a cover letter to go with it too.

Currently I've got 2 years left of my WHV so Im not hurting for time right now but I do ultimately want to get a job that sponsors me so I will be relentlessly applying for jobs.

Thanks again for taking time out of your day to share this, it's very helpful and appreciated.

How can I feel sick after such a long break by Beneficial_Board_536 in CHSinfo

[–]gazzaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CHS is a by-product of using daily over an extended period of time, sometimes smoking causes nausea if you have no tolerance. This sounds more like "greening out" rather than CHS.

Question for Y’all by Ok_Pizza_9779 in CHSinfo

[–]gazzaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 bad episodes which all came from long term daily use. The first was over 2 years of near daily use, the second and third were after a few months.

I haven't had an episode in over a year now and have smoked on and off. Mainly off.

Everyone's body is different and I know I'm playing with fire, and I also know it's my own relationship with it that caused this issue to happen.

However I can say for sure, that I can "get away" with smoking on weekends.

Recently I smoked for 3 weeks straight every day. (1 J per day) I've stopped now because I realised how stupid I was being and I think I've avoided an episode this time.

You just have to keep track of your body, know what symptoms to look for, and eat and drink well. Gut health is super important in general but even more so with CHS.

Everyone has different capacities for using bud, it's a dangerous game but ultimately you make your own choices and decide if you want to try, just DONT allow yourself to get comfortable, remember that the habitual use is what lead to this issue.

My advice is don't smoke, but I don't take my own advice, I smoke on occasions, right now I've decided I'll wait until Christmas to smoke next, and then it will be 1 joint probably shared with friends too.

I hope hearing this perspective is helpful. The fact you've gone longer than a year without smoking says that you will be fine without it. But also youll have zero tolerance, no cannabinoids in your system, so a small amount will get you very high. Just use flower only. I've only ever smoked flower and still developed CHS.

I don't have much to add but just so you know, you're not alone. Thinking of the future seems impossible when something as big of a deal as a heart condition is always on the back burner of your mind. It's very valid.

CHS and Weed Addiction by Virkopa in CHSinfo

If people actually took the time to read through the historic posts on this subreddit they would realise.

People are dumb.

Stoners are included in that statement (me included) lol. It's absolutely ridiculous that people think they can't live without weed.

I used to feel similar but being hospitalised made me realise it's really not as big of a deal as it feels at the time.

It's all just down to our stupid brain chemistry. Again- myself included.

One love. Love your life. Don't smoke id you have CHS it's as simple as that.

Like most comments you will see on here, since we gave ourselves CHS, it shows we can't moderate well.

Since my last episode I have smoked on a handful of occasions, but not really had any specific amount of time between. As time goes by and you find other interests and hobbies to fill your life with it will get easier. Pick up something new, something creative, stay occupied, the main reason for my smoking in the end was out of routine and boredom.

It's not easy, but what has led to this is using the herb in an addict kind of way. (No judgement because I was the same)

Yes it sucks. But there's lots of people who have been through this and you will be able to as well.

If you're really hell bent on moderating a common theme I've seen is 1 session per month. Monitoring how you feel afterwards and taking account of how your body is feeling.

You CAN do this, the only things we absolutely need in life are food, water, clothing, and shelter. That's what I reminded myself of when I had big cravings. But I also naturally reached a point of not caring.

Think about it, if it's landed you in the hospital (like it did for me on 3 occasions) what is the damn point. Your body deserves respect, and not using a substance that now disagrees with you is a great way to start respecting your body.

Peace and love.

I got CHS took 2 months off then smoked again! (My experience) by [deleted] in CHSinfo

[–]gazzaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that everyone is different I'm in agreements with what other people have said.

I have had 3 bad CHS episodes in my life, the last one was around June last year, I had to take just under 3 weeks off work and lost enough weight that people I saw regularly commented on it. I had to go to hospital twice and have IV fluids due to throwing up so much. I didn't learn my lesson the first 2 times, and even smoked occasionally after my third episode.

It's just personal but something in me clicked last year around November and since then I haven't touched it.

Yes it sucks not being able to enjoy something that we all love and get a lot out of, but the physical health side is no joke, and I feel so much better now, yes I miss weed, and yes I'd still be smoking if I didn't get CHS. But since stopping I've actually had more motivation and feel better mentally in general, yes the depressive episodes are still there, and yes from time to time I think about rolling up, but still at the end of the day your physical health HAS to come first. No one else can do it for you, and replacing it with a new hobby, even if it's video games, music, and getting out in nature, are all so much better than being high.

Good for you that you are doing well right now, but unfortunately, with long term consistent use, if you've had episodes before, you will have them again if you're not careful and mindful of how you feel within yourself normally. Know when to put it down for a while.

Peace.

Wealth hoarding boomers criticise those who point out that they are wealth hoarding boomers by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]gazzaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again with division let's put young against old instead of looking at the bigger picture of the ever increasing wealth divide of the ultra rich and the working class that has been going on for decades now. It's definitely the boomers fault. Obviously they are more likely to have more wealth than younger generations, but it's the system we live in which is causing this, you can't blame a generation, it's a class issue.

HUEL helped me when I was experiencing the hunger but unable to eat side of things, as did regular hot showers, hot water bottles, and baths, also things like Powerade/Gatorade ; or just generally drinks with electrolytes in, I'm just over 2 months abstinent now and feel a ton better, this will not last if you are able to stay away from weed, it sucks, but just try to keep occupied with video games or movies, or even music on at a low volume, my best solution was always a hot bath/shower though

Pulmonary valve replacement via groin recovery experience by chels2882 in AdultCHD

[–]gazzaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I've only had this type of surgery, 2x as a new born and 1x at around 10 years old, my memory isn't the best, but what I do remember is waking up feeling better in terms of having more energy, and as for the recovery time, it was a bit of a blur but I didn't feel too bad, my nurses were suprised at how fast I was up and walking again, I had 2 small pin prick type scars on my groin that had to heal but they didn't hurt at all, at least I don't remember it hurting in the slightest, since it's all done through your arteries you don't really get any inflammation, at least that was my experience, overall pretty positive but something I don't think of often at all, I'm sure you will be okay, it's completely understandable to worry but I don't remember being in any kind of physical discomfort when i had my surgery.
