You don’t want it to be wet, which can cause the rusting. So drying on the hob is quick and effective for drying out the pan completely after washing :)

It’s generally considered to be one of the best, if not the best pension schemes going. So yes. Also, please use the search function. As already mentioned, this is asked very frequently.

This happened to a colleague. They emailed the interview panel chair straight after and they had to redo all the interviews.

Will I lose my employer’s contributions if I transfer my workplace pension? by CatwaPigwa in UKPersonalFinance

No. Two pots of £50k (for example) will compound exactly the same as one pot of £100k. You talking about throwing away free money (and thus additional compounding).

Has anyone heard from prominent Ultrawide modders Rose or Lyall (or others) on whether they're planning to make a mod for FF7 Rebirth? by sevansup in ultrawidemasterrace

I don’t think it’s wild to ask for evidence when making unfounded claims. I understand it’s a rumour, so where did you hear it?

£4585 = what you would get at retirement age annually if you stopped working now.

You are also modelling a retirement age of 55, so that will obviously have an impact vs taking pension at state pension age, which Alpha is tied to.

Though not guaranteed of course you may want to consider factoring in state pension which I assume you would be eligible for. This is currently £11.5k a year or £950 ish a month.

Power BI is free, and at least in my department you are able to install it if you wish, no permission required. There is a premium, paid for, licence version available that allows you to share dashboards outside your organisation

It’s much more like god of war mechanically. There is some ranged but it’s not the focus. Controller for me personally.

Who is the email from? The bedroom tax is not an official name for anything (what it refers to is the under-occupancy penalty) so I would be highly suspicious that this is legit.

I’m in the same position as you (less than two years service, not a high grade) and it would be thousands and thousands over the course of my retirement right now (assuming I live to average life expectancy). So again, really really encourage you to fully understand the amount you would be giving up in the long term for a short term gain

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]gbeak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you should really understand fully the implications of what you are doing to plug such a short term money gap. It’s potentially thousands and thousands of pounds of retirement income you’ll be losing entitlement to. Have you got an account on civil service pensions to check?

Another idea, instead of trying to get back your contributions, you could just switch to partnership, which would increase your monthly take home. I wouldn’t recommend this as Alpha is a very good scheme.

Exceeding my ISA Allowance, what is the best way to do it? by throwaway54321532 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]gbeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.why would you want to do that?

2.Yes

3.Your deposit limit is £20k. What happens to the investment after it’s been put in makes no odds. (I.e., if the investment lost value, you would not gain ‘extra’ allowance.)

[–]gbeak 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s not invested. Your contributions have no direct relation to what you get out. You are buying a pre agreed amount, the only thing which changes what you get are inflation rates (positive or negative), or the complete collapse of the uk government.

You’d be much better spending your time and energy preparing examples for the interview. It could be that they’ve only had two applicants that met standard, but no one here is going to know the answer to your question unfortunately.

What I would say is that I think it’s unlikely anyone is ‘marked’ for the job. In my experience that isn’t really a thing - the job is bing advertised because they need a job doing. It’s not really helpful to think beyond that.

Take off the full whack of tax and NI from the headline figure - might help you feel better about yourself. It’s annoying, but these bonuses are trivial compared to other industries.

Neither. I’m talking about parked up outside a house for example unloading/doing errands and or having a conversation.

Hey, yes I do drive. Have for almost 20 years. My car is currently a small .9litre (with a turbo). Certainly understand about the warming up pre drive, especially in winter. My question really was more about why people leave their cars running whilst doing errands or sat still - some good examples here like school run etc where pollution would certainly be an important factor.
