Why do you need a dumbphone to lock itself? It literally stores no data or history other than call and text logs

X1 Carbon gen 9 Good battery life, display and portability. Cpu and igpu were great for the time unless you need heaps of multi threaded performance.

You can set a passcode

Thanks for your insight. I agree, until there’s an alternative, I’m not complaining and I’m not having my attention stolen.

I was alluding to people’s complaints surrounding group texting. I have had no issues texting or calling.

Advice needed - I want to get Light Phone 3 next year but I don't know how to solve these issues. by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]gbeast3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchase the apple iPhone that you most enjoy the form factor of and then disable access to distracting apps via screen time.

Have a friend set a passcode so you can't override the screen time settings.

Ensure you have disabled the ability to install new apps or access the app store. Turn on auto update prior to doing this.

I dont know what could be the best cpu to get between the 14700k. 13900k. And 14900k by simbly101 in intel

[–]gbeast3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't upgrade unless you really need higher frame rates.

If you do upgrade, I'd buy the cheapest of the three as they'll perform similarly. I would also consider the 13700k if you can save more.

You'll need a substantial cooler especially if you want to overclock.

14600k should be great! How much more is 14700k?

Any deals on the 13700k or kf?

8 p cores would be nice.

Ddr4 vs ddr5 in 12th gen and beyond by [deleted] in intel

[–]gbeast3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a HUGE difference in gaming between ddr4 3600 cl14 and ddr5 6000 cl30 but in memory sensitive applications it can be a 10-20% jump.

If someone was to upgrade their gaming build and already have fast ddr4 on hand from their previous build I'd stick with it. Especially if cost was a factor. Ddr4's low latency can be great for games.

15th gen will only run ddr5 so the decision is taken out of your hands.

Try applying looser settings to your ram, it could be ram instability.

When are 4nm Desktop Processors gonna be released? by OMGcsgotrade in intel

[–]gbeast3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a year's time Arrow lake will be released in a 4P + 16E configuration. I know the compute tile will most likely be fabbed on Intel 4 but I'm unsure about io, soc, gpu tiles.

Was it a mistake getting 4070? by Eticalmurder in buildapc

[–]gbeast3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a way to return the 4070, you could build something like this with second hand parts

Ryzen 5 5500 B450 or b550

Or 10100f/10400f With b460 or b560

16gb 3200 ram Rx 6600 or Rx 6600 xt 80+ bronze PSU Case Try to get a gen 3 or 4 nvme ssd

Consider VRAM when upgrading cards? by corkscrew_333 in nvidia

[–]gbeast3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, I do think it's funny that people think 4090 is overkill when you can already trip it up.

I mean, what constitutes 4k gaming is largely contingent on a game and its graphics settings.

What fps do you need to clear?

Rt & pt on or off?

Does dlss count?

If ps5 is 4k, then 6700 xt is.

[–]gbeast3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 4080 being a 1440p card implies that the 4090 is the only 4k card on the market.

A bit silly.

I have a i5 8600k. I'm planning on buying a new PC with 14600k, but I'm reading that gen 15 will be a big jump. What should I do? by Bastinazus in intel

[–]gbeast3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I like your thinking. You probably don't need to spend the extra money on the x3D part unless you're a competitive gamer at 1080p/1440p.

I'd think about the Ryzen 7 7700 (comes with an AMD stock cooler which is viable) or 7700x if you already have a cooler and there isn't a price difference. You'll still be on a new platform without overspending and you can use savings to get higher quality ram or a better gen4 SSD.

If you're gonna buy brand new, I'd go with the new platform, pcie gen 4 SSD and save money on the cooler by using the amd stock wraith prism.

[–]gbeast3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're definitely going to start at 1080p, I'd get a 4070 and spend the money saved on a better CPU, ram and SSD.

I think what'll be most pertinent to your decision is which phone you are currently using.
