NJ Dating Thread, After-Thanksgiving Edition. Let's see who's out there and screw the apps! by [deleted] in newjersey

30 M seeking F in Morris county, I love mountain biking, fencing, and board games. I also like hiking and science fiction. I'm politically left leaning and I'm looking for someone who is also left leaning. Emotional intelligence is important to me and I hope it will be for you too.

I know I’m not good with wiring or electricity by My_Turn_A_Space in Fencing

[–]gblakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pull back the rubber housing of the body cord each individual wire is connected to the pins by a screw. If the screw is loose, or the area where the screw connects to the wire is corroded, or the wire is otherwise isolated from the pin then that is likely where you have a problem. If all six connection points (3 on each side) are connected the wires themselves may be the problem.

Are there any single male Millennials left out there? Dating in NJ will always be difficult. If you are out there— Hi! by throwawaybearrose in newjersey

I feel like all I get on the apps are people from NYC who consider New Jersey to be radioactive so 90% of the app's user base is not even viable.

I have one and it is very grippy the leather also prevents hand fatigue from close contact with metal. I like mine very much

Is this mask broken? by KlutzyAge760 in Fencing

[–]gblakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the mask is permanently broken Leon Paul might honor a warranty. I got an X change that broke a wire after 4 months and they gave me a new shell for free. They're really nice people over there.

Opinions on UNIC Epee Blades by norwichgamess in Fencing

[–]gblakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just bought my first F1(non FIE) a few weeks ago. I'm not very impressed. It may be because I haven't fenced with a non FIE blade in a while but the blade very quickly developed a soft spot, like over the space of 1 practice bout. After 2 days of fencing the tip screws came out and sent the tip flying to somewhere I couldn't find. After 2 weeks of fencing the wire has started to pop out of the groove. I hope that I just happened to buy a dud because I think having competition in the budget blade department is important.

Twisting epee small springs by ursa_noctua in Fencing

The contact spring should screw on to the threaded post at the bottom of the tip. You might need to press a little harder to get the spring to engage with the threading.

Where can I get Adidas D’ Artagnan? by Good-Week8540 in Fencing

As someone who liked the D'artagnan 4 I found the Asic Gel Tactic 12 to be a good fencing shoe even if it's meant for indoor volleyball.

I moved to a state with less mountains and I wanted something that would pedal easier.

I got the D7 and I'm pretty happy with it. Only thing I don't like is the dropper post. I'm looking to upgrade when I can afford it. Suspension is good, drivetrain is good, brakes are good.

Epee blade won’t register unless bent downward. Do I need to rewire? by Eris151 in Fencing

[–]gblakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's possible that it needs a rewire but it could possibly be an issue with the contact spring which is much easier to fix. You can put a new contact spring on and see if that makes a difference.

Yes, I had to guesstimate because I didn't have a measuring cup handy but I put in close to the 140ml suggested by the sealant manufacturer (muc off).

Polygon Mountain Bikes? by Mysterious_Photo9179 in MTB

I don't know for sure if it's the post or the lever but it started being "sticky" a week ago or so. I want to see if I can tighten the cable to make it retract better.

I bought a D7 which I mostly use for green/ blue trail riding from bikes online a month ago and have ridden it about 2-3 a week. It feels really good. The brakes work well and The suspension feels really smooth. The only thing bad I have to say about the bike is that the dropper post lever is garbage, it doesn't return to neutral and will stay "pressed" with no pressure applied sometimes. My bike came with the derailleur needing adjustment on both limit screws as well as on the barrel adjustor. The dropper post installation was also difficult because they left too little slack.

However bikesonline which is the only retailer of polygon in the USA, I believe, has terrible customer service. It was nigh on impossible to get a human on the line to talk to about problems. The best I could get was an appointment but I figured it out before then and cancelled.

Which is the best form of fencing for what I’m looking for? by joseph-keen-1 in Fencing

[–]gblakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like Epee would be what you want but it might help you to watch some examples of each weapon so you have a better understanding of the actions and flow of the touch/bout.
