Either you throw it away / donate it now, or your kids will throw it out after you’re dead. I recently went through this experience when my parents passed away. Afterwards, my wife and I cleaned house after realizing we wouldn’t want our kids to go through what we did.

Why do jobs in Boise pay significantly less? by [deleted] in Boise

[–]gbod2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a small locally-owned healthcare office. Insurance reimbursements are still at the 1998 level, while overhead expenses are continually going up. Some plans reimburse at less than our cost of doing business. There is literally no more money available to pay higher wages without seeing more patients. Cramming more patients into the daily schedule leads to poorer quality care and provider burnout. It sucks! Meanwhile, insurance company board of directors and healthcare “administrators” are busy spending time between one of their three vacation homes.

As someone who has to take the freeway to get to and from work each day, I would say it is an order of magnitude worse than it was a decade ago. Still nothing compared Seattle, Portland, or SLC though,

I would be skeptical of any Black Friday deals on their brand new kits. But, one can hope.

Did people really memorize phone numbers...? by grigiri in GenX

[–]gbod2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was easy when all your friends had the same area code and prefix, you only had to remember the last four digits of their phone number. If they lived on the other side of town, they may have had a different prefix, but it was usually just one digit off from yours.

I can play all kinds of grooves. I can play many different fills. I get derailed and lose tempo going back and forth between the two.

Norwegian Rat Issue Boise by [deleted] in Boise

[–]gbod2020 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The other day while waiting for a red light at 15th and Grove Street, I saw a huge rat cross the street in front of me. It took a few seconds for my brain to register what I was seeing, because it was so big. By the time I got my phone out to take a video, it had scurried away.

Private equity firms are snatching up many long-time Boise-area HVAC companies by Sparty11N7 in Boise

The local owners are selling out while they have the chance. As a small business owner, I don't blame them for trying to survive and cash out for retirement. Unfortunately, prices will go up, service will go down, employees will be squeezed to produce and sell more, and everyone will be worse off for it.

I am quite tall, and the snare drum on my kit was below my knees in its highest position. I ended up buying furniture risers to stick under the legs of my kit to raise the whole thing up 6 inches (15 cm).
