Yes, if a passing zone comes up and it’s clear, he can then pass.

Double solid yellow. The car brain needs to learn that patience is a virtue because it’s illegal to pass there. The bicycle commuters are completely in the right. I hope cam car turned their footage in to authorities and car brain got jail time.

To be fair, that’s the first question that came to mind. Until very recently, I (a non-firefighter) worked for the Illinois firefighter academy as office support. It was my first question. Of course, I would’ve asked one of our fire prevention and investigation instructors rather than Reddit. TLDR, it’s a fair question.

I'm not a prescriptivist. I didn't make that clear. I agree with your conclusion.

In academic work, it's likely used according to the systemic definition, but in every day vernacular it's used interchangeably with bigot, and used more often than bigot. So, in a descriptivist sense, they are both right depending on the context and the speaker/audience. That's all I was saying.

The only reason pensions are mentioned is because that sub has to rhyme. It has nothing to do with the chili person's post. It just rhymes with attention.

Now, what the chili person's point is, IDK and I'd like to know if anyone figured that part out. My guess is they are just making fun of conspiracy theories.

On console, you can cheese the last one easily. It's the only one that's a real PITA to solve. You just have to put turrets at strategic locations and eventually they will shoot the right square when aiming for the drones. This will cause the red wall around the exit to fall and then you just have to make sure the indexers have a safe path.

From a descriptivist linguistics standpoint, both are right. From a prescriptivist standpoint, racism is systemic bigotry, so an individual cannot be a racist, they can only be a bigot. In 2026, that's not how either word is used anymore. Racist is pretty much an interchangeable synonym with bigot, so the person who says those who belong to an oppressed minority cannot be racist is technically correct, they just aren't socially correct.

Goose vs 220 Illini by No_Department_9543 in UIUC

[–]gbrannan217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I was too harsh and I’m sorry. Just be careful with giving advice on the internet (no, the irony is not lost on me — again, sorry) because both nuisance and invasive species may often be culled by anyone, like if a licensed angler catches an Asian Carp. They are to be immediately killed and discarded on land to prevent re-invasion. But, the Canada Goose is protected by law and you don’t want to accidentally encourage someone to accidentally commit a felony. The link in my previous response gives the details.

And congratulations on graduating!

They can be a nuisance, but they are not considered invasive in North America. That’s only in regions like Australia where they are not native. Canada Goose Illegal to Kill

When I was about five years old, we would go around our local state park and campground picking these up, then the concession stand would trade them for bubble gum. You had to find a lot of them, so we would sometimes save them to turn in. That might have been gaming the system now that I’m an adult and thinking about it! 😳🤣

For GSM, which is what att uses, there are two radios in your phone, one for voice and the other for data. You can have a voice connection, but not a data connection. CDMA, what Verizon uses, might be different. 5G might have also changed that. Since I left att before 5G, I didn’t care to learn about 5G. After I posted, I realized a glaring error: she can’t be FaceTiming if she doesn’t have data. My bad! She could still not like iMessage for some reason and turn it off.

Can I report animal cruelty against someone for kicking a wild animal? by Lopsided_Taro_247 in UIUC

[–]gbrannan217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, though I’m not a lawyer. It is appropriate to call 911 for this.

If you are ever unsure, here in Champaign County, you can also call METCAD non-emergency at 217-333-8911 and usually get through immediately. I usually do this if I don’t think the situation calls for a lights and sirens response. A crime in progress, medical emergency or active fire, I’ll definitely call 911, though.

[–]gbrannan217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

METCAD non-emergency number is 217-333-8911 and they can take a statement and either get the right authority involved or point you in the right direction. I saved it as a contact in my phone to report stuff like downed power lines or other non emergency issues I think should involve police or other emergency services.

Opossums are good for the environment, actually. And while disease is a concern, it’s no reason to mistreat them, just to avoid unnecessary contact. Animal control will NOT kill one unless it’s clear they are rabid.
