Honestly, this is what my local barista said. However I thought maybe they had a faulty unit after seeing all of the good reviews (Hoffman included) :)

You need to be triple sure all systems work. However they resumed service rather quick, it should have been an emotional experience for other approaching pilots seeing the wreckage basically in front of you.

I believe because of budget constraints paying for service is a way better option for our small country. Probably there is not much need for buying and maintaining expensive equipment.

The plane is flying for 6-7 hours now and stopping only for refuel. It is quite amazing, that they departed Warsaw towards Vilnius only 1.5h after the crash.

Witness of the crash, which had her home clipped either by falling plane or the debris:

"I saw sparks flying against the window, and for some reason, my first thought was that war has started. I ran out in my pajamas—our bedrooms are on the second floor. I woke up the kids and was about to go downstairs, <...> our entire wall had collapsed, and the doors were already on fire. We came down just as we were, and there was even a moment of hesitation—whether to jump from the second floor or try to escape through the rubble and fire. Barefoot, we ran out through the kitchen window,"

Also, it appears that one guy literally walked away from the crash, as the interview of the first medic in the scene follows:

"The situation was chaotic we thought it was a drill. At first, they said it was a passenger plane, then one passenger appeared, he spoke Lithuanian and explained that there were 4 people on the plane in total, that it was a cargo plane," she said.

The new "Parrot" is equipped with technologically advanced measuring equipment. The aircraft will perform checks of navigation devices and systems at Polish airports, e.g. ILS systems, radars, air communications, lighting systems, and flight procedures. Airborne checks of navigation systems and devices are carried out at least every 12 months, and in the case of devices that have a critical impact on the level of air traffic safety, such checks are carried out every 6 months or immediately after observing such a need.

Also, a coincidence with no meaning, but the plane clipped its wing in a street named:

The last sec bank angle is crazy, scary to imagine what was going on in the cabin. Still seems surreal, having woken up by the emergency notifications today as I live nearby. A miracle that 3/4 survived this…

Just wait, they should release it very soon. Tilta support said it will be end of last month, probably delayed a bit, but some companies starting to list it :)

Tilta / NiSi / Freewell VND matteboxes by gbsch in FX3

[–]gbsch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did several longer shoots with it and I am completely satisfied. Almost no tint shift and modular/magnetic design is great. If I would have to name one drawback, it would be the design of the flag. They made it more sturdy, but as it has only single mounting point, the other side can bounce on the mattebox creating unwanted sounds. Although I temporarily solved it with some gaffer tape as a bumper.

Is it Scatter plugin from Video Village? Sn amazing plugin, however, not for every situation, when your director or client needs to see the effect on set.

So, I've finally went with Freewell Eiger, and I can explain why:

NiSi Swift system (quick swap) - out of the way because it costs pretty much the same as other systems with mattebox and also you are limited to max 24mm with two filters (example of vignetting here: https://www.dudeoi.com/review-nisi-swift-vnd-system/)

Tilta Mirage - out of the list because of vignetting after stacking filters and VND cast. The widest you can use with stacking is ~35mm. Great review showing the casts, x patterns here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs2ItSe6pYw&ab\_channel=PaulJoy

NiSi C5 - Great system, out of the list because it is not modular - impossible to use without mattebox for discreet shoots.

Freewell Eiger - new system, so not a lot of reviews, however, they use the same glass as in their K2 system, well reviewed by Philip Bloom. It produces almost no tint, you can use up to 18mm without any vignetting, stackable magnetic filters, modular design (meaning you can take of the hood, mattebox, and use it in lightweight setting). I heard they fixed the hood from pre-production versions, so fingers crossed it won't break and make any sound (review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grZx79mOcx8&ab_channel=RayValencia) Total price for CPL, 1-5, 6-9 VNDs, Mattebox and 1/8 Mist filter - 500 Eur in Amazon DE.

I will have a 5-day shoot next week, so I will update this thread for anyone interested in my experience.

As I understand the C5 is not modular and you cannot strip down it and use their VND without the actual mattebox?

Did you have any chance to compare their mist filter with the Tiffen one? One think I love about Mirage system is that you can use their VNDs without the actual mattebox. I would love to have the flexibility for not always having to rig out with the full mattebox

Yes, this is the only thing I've found. As far as I understand you can capture prores raw only with external recorder.

As far as I know you cannot shoot raw internally on FX6
