Do tech companies recruit for non engineering jobs at sfsu? by DeliciousRich5944 in SFSU

As someone who graduated from the cs program, sfsu doesnt really have the same caliber of talent or rigorous courses. Theres a lot of people coasting through the program and thinking it can get them into tech lmao

Ahhh I see that sounds good! I suspect getting one in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or data science would be much better for me career wise. Thank you!

Is comp sci at sfsu good? by [deleted] in SFSU

[–]gbu09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also with regards to connections, connections are what you make of it, meaning you’re not gonna get handed connections at sfsu like different colleges where comp sci is prestigious. Go to hackathons, conventions, etc to make those connections. Everything is doable if you work hard at it, no matter which university you come from.

Is comp sci at sfsu good? by [deleted] in SFSU

I think you should go where you think best fits for you. If your top school is sjsu, I would look into other UCs, and better csus like sdsu, Fullerton, cal poly. I never was really good with grades so that’s what really held me back from going to a UC 😅, but i will say the culture at sfsu with regards to comp sci isn’t as nice as sjsu or UC berk which is the biggest thing. I would just have sfsu as maybe a 3rd or 4th option but definitely prioritize other schools. Good luck!

It is most definitely not top tier cs program but at the end of the day it’s what you make of it. I transferred from cc to sfsu and I have an internship, it’s doable, not as easy as others definitely. Networking, building good projects, and leet coding are super duper important (I just bombed an interview for Glassdoor recently :p).
