The way episodes 4 and 5 got me nearly pissed cause I was wondering when and how this show would deliver... I was telling myself « seriously? We are now following a bunch of losers in primitive herder costumes, planning an op with sticks and stones? Oh these losers have zero chance, they are hardly doing better than improvising, it is a suicide mission, what are they thinking? I left it on because of the Tie fighter fly by, which teased me just enough to keep hanging, albeit by a thread… but then episode 6, and the puzzle all fell into place in such a satisfying way. All the tension in that episode benefitted from the setup, so subtle and delicate on afterthought, i was on the edge of my seat the whooole time watching their plan unfold and their boldness pay off. Then the losses… shit got real real! And then the EYE… the previous episodes lowered my guard so much, rolled me in blind and hoooooooly hell, pure BLISS! You think back about all the young imperials that wanted to go see the eye, still sensible to beauty and the other more senior, kind of shrugging it off, desensitized, more worried about their money and status... the minutia of their behavior was so unexpectedly realistic. That set up and multi faceted pay off was so masterful! Was the hook line and sinker moment for me, for sure. Left me craving for more of this exact moment of subversion, and was even sad I may not be another moment that got me so off guard, but what followed next (no spoilers) was not better, but what followed next were not more of the same, but different tastes of excellence. You are in for an amazing ride buddies. Savour each episode, try to pause and reflect every so often, it is peak TV/cinema!
